Instead of splitting in half the states should just throw DC out and form a new extremely limited federal government with offices rented out of spare spaces in state and county office buildings all over the country. Limit the federal budget to a new red swingline stapler a year.
Murrica doesn't work that way @Louis IX Many of "the states" like DC and the big government "DC" way of governments. In Murrica we call them "Libruls" and "RINOs" (republicunz in name only) ;-)
