This is Detroit not Ukraine. While billions of dollars was sent to Ukraine.
James A Mitchell
Huge amounts of government money have already been poured into Detroit, but it only gets worse. The problem isn't a lack of funding.
GaryLockhart
The potential for a greater ROI is in Ukraine not Detroit.
Jungerheld
Detroit and surrounding areas were hit particularly hard with the loss of the auto industry.
GaryLockhart
What were the excuses during the Detroit riots in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1975, 1984, 1990 and 2020 since the auto industry was vibrant during the majority of those periods?

And, now we have sent over 2 billion in military aid to the Ukraine, with Biden planning to ask congress for another 33 billion (Imagine the level of corruption that Zelenskyy will commit with this money). This is insanity. I can understand albeit I don't agree with, the students who are asking for complete loan forgiveness of student loans by the government in light of the misappropriation of …More

Ukraine is the buffer between Putin and the NATO countries we are committed to defending. If we do not invest in stopping or slowing Russia now then we will be paying far more for it later on. If it's not Putin then it will be another Russian leader after Russia recovers from this failed endeavor.

sounds like the arguments that I remember for the US getting involved in Vietnam

@frawley, indeed! It's the domino effect and slippery slope arguments all over again but, hopefully, we can avoid wasting needless American blood and treasure.

@James Mitchell If I may preface this by saying I'm neither pro-Putin or pro-National Ukrainian. However, there is an Euroasian socio-cultural perspective that rightly fears the anti-transcendent materialism of the Liberal Western agenda that promotes a globalized advancement of hedonism, consumer-capitalism, anti-family, pro LGBTQP, transgender ideology etc. NATO is the military shield of this …More

However, there is an Euroasian socio-cultural perspective that rightly fears the anti-transcendent materialism of the Liberal Western agenda that promotes a globalized advancement of hedonism, consumer-capitalism, anti-family, pro LGBTQP, transgender ideology etc. NATO is the military shield of this diabolical agenda. But, the West one might argue is a defender of liberal democracy and absolute freedom. Yes, but that interpretation based not on the essence of true freedom is, rather, grounded in human subjectivism, which is leading the West down a road of socio-cultural and civilizational suicide.

I can certainly understand Russia being traditionally civilizationally and culturally rooted in an Apostolic Faith, wanting no part of these destructive elements poisoning their society and willing to pay the high price in resistance to the West in its present state.

You can find areas like these anywhere in the country ,it,s a disgrace a country that prides itself of spending trilions of dollars ,that doesnt have ,and now inflation is going up like crasy ,one thing they are good is lying to you every day
James A Mitchell
These areas don't exist because of a lack of direct investment of government money. But it would be smart to finish up the wall on our southern border so that the ongoing drug wars of Central and South America don't continue to extend up into our inner cities, involving poor USAmerican youth.
frawley
Walls only keep out people who do not know how to use ladders. The tactic of trying to stop drugs at the border has been a dismal failure since the 1970's

One may find a few other areas like this elsewhere in the USA, but it is absolutely not true that one may find areas "like this" anywhere in the country. Detroit really is special.
