Dear brothers and sisters, in the passage from the Gospel of Matthew that we’re going to listen to on Sunday, August 9, Jesus reminds us that God, the true and only God, whom he affectionately called "Dad," is not an enemy of man! God does not manifest himself as an oppressor whom we must free ourselves from. He does not manifest himself as the One who wants to crush us from the height of his omnipotence. On the contrary, in Jesus, his beloved Son, he comes to make us great, to enhance our humanity! He comes to help us reach the boundaries of human perfection, to enable us to walk on the stormy seas of life…
