My liturgy professor actually went a little further by saying that the Jewish dinner prayers, which replaced the Offertory, are not, in and of themselves to be called Offertory prayers. The NO offertory is the offertory procession. In essence, there is no offertory in the NO. In the late ‘90s, when the Editio typica tertia was being put together, Cardinal Medina-Estevez, who was a friend to Tradition, actually proposed that the true Offertory be included, as an option, in the new edition. He was, of course, rebuffed.
