Opus Dei Drives Out The Best People

Expelled:
Opus Dei Father Janvier Gbénou, a 41-year-old priest born in Benin and living in Ivory Coast wrote on October 21 an Open Letter to Francis, the bishops, and all people of good will. The Opus Dei suspended Gbérou in March for legitimately questioning Francis’ homosexualism. Gbénou is now in the process of being expelled from the Opus Dei. His crime: he defended Catholic doctrine.

A Horse. Courageous Father Gbénou asks Francis to rectify his wrong positions. His letter begins with an Arabic tale of a king who asked his advisor what people thought of him. The advisor replied: "Do you want me to tell you something nice, or the truth? "The truth!" the monarch insisted. The advisor answered: "If it is the truth that you wish to hear, grant me a favour first". The king agreed, and the adviser said: "I ask of you the fastest horse in your stables, to ride away from you as soon as I have told you the truth.”

Suffering for Christ. Father Gbénou - or Jesusmary Missigbètò, as he signs the letter – expresses his hope that he does not need such a horse, however, his experience has taught him differently. His loyalty to Christ’s teachings has brought him into a conflict with his superiors that he had never imagined. Now, he suffers for Christ and his truth.

Warning. In his letter, Gbénou examines the casuistic morality which led Francis to profess homosexualism. Gbénou explains to Francis that this position leads to losing the value of the Sacrament of Marriage, problems in educating children towards the family, a decline of vocations, unsecurity of Christians in the face of terrorism, a collapse of the coherence of doctrine, an attack on the faith of the faithful and on the unity and peace of the Church.

More Letters. Evidently, Gbénou has all previous Popes whom he quotes extensively on his side. He sprinkles his statements with abundant references to current ecclesial and social problems, even to the Synod on Synods, of which he says: "Our Church needs a synod on truth, half-truths and ethical situations rather than a synod on synodality". Gbénou announces that in future letters, he will tackle other instances where Francis has fallen into situational ethics.

Bravo, Father Janvier Gbenou, and Gloria tv. The Pope and his coterie need to heaar this, again and again. Hopefully, you can find a place in the Church, which will appreciate your gifts, including your intelligence and courage. God bless you.

Does @thomasvalle always 'upvote' and 'love' his own comments? Bizarre. By the way, my comment below was based on the personal experience of a family that I know very well. I am godparent to two of their children. Fortunately they have now come away from it. So my comment cannot be dismissed as 'misinformation and fake news'. I am godparent to two of their children. Fortunately they have now come away from it. So my comment cannot be dismissed as 'misinformation and fake news'. There are too many people who complain about Opus Dei for all the reports to be 'misinformation and fake news' Try odan.org for a start. And as I said before, I myself have had no adverse experiences with them - I wouldn't give them the chance. So I have no personal axe to grind and can look at Opus Dei objectively.

No thomasvalle does not usually upvote and love his own comments, I accidentally touched the faces and when I tried to undo them they added more and didn’t go away. As for Opus Dei, your argument could be made for any organization.. there are people that say the same thing about the Catholic Church. No thomasvalle does not usually upvote and love his own comments, I accidentally touched the faces and when I tried to undo them they added more and didn’t go away. As for Opus Dei, your argument could be made for any organization.. there are people that say the same thing about the Catholic Church. In reality, I know outstanding priests and laity involved with OpusDei who are faithful and doing a lot of good. Furthermore, there are people who wouldn’t give the Catholic Church a chance based on what they have heard others say about the Catholic Church. Like assuming that most Catholic priests are child abusers based on the sins of a very few rotten eggs. Thus it does a great disservice to besmirch entire organizations as it ends up besmirching thousands of people. That’s the trouble with sins of the tongue, which leads to all sorts of injustices and slander. As for the Catholic priest accusing the pope, again, the problem is the Internet and all the talking heads spreading insinuations, misrepresentations and gossip, which leads to people calumniating the pope..

@thomasvalle May I just ask - are you a member of Opus Dei at any level?
thomasvalle
No I am not. But I know people who are, and for a long time attended a parish run by Opus Dei priests, some of whom personally knew St. Jose Maria Escriva. The Opus Dei priests I knew gave practical, powerful effective retreats for the laity.

Brilliant!! What an inspiring priest, God grant him fortitude. One comment about the English spelling "losing" is the correct word. "loosing" means to allow.

Jesuits and Opus Dei are not friendly each other.
The Opus Dei Chief is not still bishop yet so he pleases the Jesuit pope ?

Doesn't that headline say it all? 'Opus Dei drives out the best people'. In other words, those who have enough Catholic Faith not to be indoctrinated by this cult. And no - I'm not some ex-Opus Dei member with an axe to grind. But I've been far from impressed with the effect it has had on a family I know very well. And Gloria TV has carried alarming stories recently of Opus Dei bishops and …More

The problem is the media and priests reacting to misinformation and fake news

@thomasvalle Please show which parts of this story are "misinformation and fake news".

Unfortunately that priest who denounced the pope was reacting to sensational media narratives and the Internet. Unfortunately that priest who denounced the pope was reacting to sensational media narratives and the Internet. By the time the pope’s words and actions are filtered and presented by the media and reshaped through the Internet, the public is reacting to incomplete, biased and distorted reports turned inside out by political spin to serve their cause. We see the same thing happen in politics all the time, putting the worst possible spin and false intention to any and every thing the one they hate does (And viceversa if they report on someone they like.) But the girl presenting the news in this GloriaTV “News report” refers to Pope Francis’ “homosexualism”, directly implying the widespread false narrative that the pope is pushing the gay agenda.

Today the Internet is like one giant global Chinese telephone game, that, by the time the original phrase of message is passed through a number of people, one gets a completely distorted message by the end of the line.

Interestingly, Pope Benedict described how with the dawn of the mass media, a massive distortion of the y-truth was perpetrated by the media against the public when they presented a false narrative about Vatican II, as he explains in this video: youtu.be/CfTWC5lPshM
