Malta: Priest Turns Donations Into Porn

Father Luke Seguna, 39, of Marsaxlokk, Malta, allegedly spent nearly €150,000 of his parish’s money on live sex shows websites (TimesOfMalta.com, August 19).

He now faces accusations of fraud and money laundering. His legal defence insisted that the money spent was given "to him personally" while the prosecution says he misappropriated some €500,000 - intended for the Church and donated by parishioners over a ten-year span.

Seguna allegedly admitted having struggled with a “sexual crisis” triggered by a major health problem at the time. He denies any wrongdoing and is pleading not guilty.

There was a time when most diocese and religious orders regulated the media content (movies, books, etc.) religious were permitted to 'consume'. Paternalistic, controlling? Perhaps. But it aided anyone who might falter. This fallen man is potentially any one of us, and we are deceiving ourselves if we think we are better than him. More disciplined, perhaps, but just as prone. Recently, it has troubled me what someone so vulnerable might be prey to in the confessor's box. The confessor must be a warrior well-fortified by the Faith and by the grace of God to carry out the daunting, yet awesome, task of healing the penitent. How many priests are still up to this task?

There are about 400,000 Catholic priests worldwide (Malta has about 160 priests). Does de.news also report on their loyalty? Because the Yellow Press doesn't do that... The Gospels and Acts of the Apostles don't give one of the 12 apostles (Judas Iscariot) any special space.

Grech and Scicluna are probably gay too. If they are open to and supportive of homosexuals and homosexuality in general (TRANS/transvestites, LGBTQ agenda, gay rights, gay parages, blessings for homosexuals), then theres a more than 80% chance they are either bi-sexual, or gay themselves. THat probably 75% of the VAtican priests, equal number of Francis' bishop appointees, and same percentage in general of post-VAtican II priests.
