Cardinal Müller's Opinion on the War in Ukraine
Cardinal Müller expressed his private views on the Ukrainian war to LaNuovaBq.it (April 30). Highlights
• War is only justifiable as a defensive, not as a political instrument.
• The ambiguity of the Ukrainian conflict shows itself in the right to self-defence and, on the other hand, the American interest to confront Russia.
• Putin who “absurdly” declares himself a Christian started the war.
• Putin may be criticised for his military politics, but not in the name of “Western Values” like abortion or gay-marriages which are “not values.”
• Russia is part of "Christian culture."
• The Orthodox profess in substance the Catholic faith, but have lost an universal orientation by transferring the principle of unity to the Nation.
• The German Church seems to be succumbing to this same nationalist temptation.
• We cannot criticise Russian nationalism but accept the fact that the Church is manipulated by the interests of the European Union which is “anti-Christian.”

When has NATO said " we will bury you" ? As Nikita did.
I guess NATO placing military bases on Russia's border and overturning Ukraine's neutrality would approximate that, and not even remotely. More than a mere verbal threat ("We will bury you") -- it's a tactical, military aggression.
You can be sure if it were ever possible for China to do that on our borders, we would react....or at least ought to. Right now there is so much treason going on in this country with China's infiltration of our political, economic, academic, technological and scientific infrastructure that it amounts to war....a war we're losing by design.
I agree with both @Mathathias Maccabeus and @michael newman in that Putin at least cares enough about protecting his country's national identity and objecting to threats to swallow it up in the great blob of the EU to act when the threat is real. This is basic Catholic principle.
If, however, the Russian forces are doing anything blameworthy, that can never be defended.
So, while one can never defend a war that's fought unjustly and involving innocent citizens, from on-the-ground reporting, it looks as though the Ukraine is actually the country fighting unjustly.
The entire global community knew they were asking for trouble in provoking Russia. And Zelenskyy -- who is an absolute pervert, and will have to answer to God for the sick, satanic things he did as a performer -- was set up and groomed for this job and hardly the great knight the media is making him out to be.
