IS USA GOING STRAIGHT TO A CIVIL WAR?

No there isn't @Jim Dorchak A few left-wing cities are allowing rioters a free hand while using "law enforcement" against any armed resistance to those radicals. The media is giving these cities constant coverage. Everything is under control, even there. Not enforcing the law and not being ABLE to enforce the law are two different things. Oh, almost forgot... the rest of the country isn't …More

@Ultraviolet. Fair enough

Hey, I can understand where you're coming from. You're seeing America through the lens of "international news". They're pushing a narrative. Remember when Rodney King got beaten by the police? Same situation. The rioters were allowed to run rampant and the media kept predicting this was the turning point in American history. The riots would spread... never happened.
Jim Dorchak
I am not simply speaking to the violence. I am speaking to the fact that there is no longer civil discourse. There is no middle ground between the left and right. The right may not admit it but the lefty HAS declared war. I do read U.S. press, although that it stinks, but I get my news from any number of sources.
I think the revolution has already begun.

There never has been a middle ground between the left and the right, Jim It's taken close to three quarters of a century but the political right is finally beginning (only just now) to realize that and is acting accordingly -at least some are.

Whoo.. Mr. Trump didn't shake hands with Mr. Biden! :P

Oh yes, to be sure, there was a veneer of "civil discourse" which amounted to the Left demanding ten points on their agenda during a legislative season, "civil discourse", and the Right graciously conceding to seven of those points. What the political left likes to recall as "civil discourse" was, in essence, the political right selling the country, one issue at a time, just so they could remain "civil" with their enemies -get invited to each other's snobby summer cook-outs.

It's easy for the left to remain "civil" with politicians they neither fear nor respect.

That is "civil discourse" the left-leaning press very nostalgically romanticizes and mourns... the era of the 60s and early 70s when America went headlong down the toilet because the political right was more interested in affecting a "fair-minded" sense of bonhomie with their political enemies who, privately, entertained no such delusions at all.

Civil discourse gave us Roe Vs. Wade. Civil discourse gave us the Gun Control Act of '68. Civil discourse gave us practically every one of the cornerstones of the towering leftist cultural institutions we see looming over our society today.

The left can "declare" whatever they please.

America has been increasingly balkanized for at least half a century now. The contrasts are simply becoming more visible.

In places where the left holds overwhelming political control, they allow their agitators to run rampant and "enforce" the law only against the political right. In places where the left does NOT hold such control, the rule of law is still entirely in effect and ordinary people go about their business as normal, even allowing for wearing silly cloth masks.

You may think as you please about "the revolution". I suspect it's as much wishful thinking as the people on GTV who insist we're living through the Apocalypse. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm being caustic, but while you get your news in Chile, I -live- here. There is no revolution. This is theater just as the "Occupy" movement was. Remember "Occupy"???

People were insisting that was the big revolution, too. It wasn't anything except an echo of what we see today: leftist politicians protecting law-breakers.

Everything is still entirely under control. Leftist politicians are simply allowing their dogs to savage the citizenry who elected them. Serves them right.

But those politicians are still the ones holding the leash. When it suits them, say Joseph Biden gets elected, they will yank that leash tight and all this "revolution" will evaporate literally overnight.

There's historical precedent for this. I don't recall when you departed from the US, so perhaps you remember this, perhaps not. During the tail end of G.W. Bush's presidency, there was a very loud, very vocal "anti-war movement" in the US. "Get the US out of Iraq! Get the US out of Afghanistan! Bring them home! No Blood For Oil! (ignoring how Iraq's oil supply was under UN control).

Loads of sign-waving morons holding street demonstrations, protests, all of that tripe.

Then Barack Hussein Obama was elected and a miracle happened. All those angry voices fell silent. The protests vanished. I mean overnight. Saw it first hand, a few old-timers, probably some of the last surviving hippies were making a regular "protests" outside city hall. Peaceful sign wavers, "sit ins" that didn't block the flow of business... all that.

Then Barry got in and the next time I drove downtown... they were all gone. Had we suddenly pulled our troops? Nope. The only thing that changed was Mr. McCain didn't get elected and Mr. Obama did. But suddenly waving a sign saying "Mr. President, Bring Our Boys Home" just wasn't cool no more... funny thing, eh?

Mr. Obama of course went on to send MORE troops to Afghanistan, more troops died during his tenure in office than under Mr. Bush. Drone warfare and civilian casualties became commonplace and what did the anti-war leftist say about all that?

Nothing. Zip. No more giant marches on washington, no more "little protests" outside of city hall. No more left-wing unrest about "the war". It was like the moment Barry O. got elected 'the anti-war movments" simply, and not-so-inexplicably, stopped.

The same thing is happening now in the last month's of Mr. Trump's presidential term for similar reasons and promoted by the same manipulators. Everything's under control. It always has been.

The day it isn't, you'll know it. The news will be a LOT more exciting!

That's the day the left will get gunned down for the traitors they are in one city after another, coast to coast for weeks on end. THAT will be the "revolution" you imagine.

You won't see Kyle Rittenhouse shooting one or two guys who tried to jump him after his buddies extinguised a gas-station fire started by some rioters.

You'll see a dozen Kyle Rittenhouses shooting every left-wing rioter in the street because such people shouldn't be starting fires at gas-stations in the first place.

Hasn't happened, probably won't. Nothing's new. What do I know? I only live in this country, eh? ;-)

I agree with you. Incrementalism is their main tool. They have stepped it up.
