Dominican Rite Allowed

Lawrence Lew, OP

Upon the advice of my Ordinary, the Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of England, and upon the recommendation of the Master of the Order, I duly applied to the Archbishop of Westminster, Ordinary of the Diocese in which I live and who I serve as parish priest of St Dominic's, Haverstock Hill, for a faculty to celebrate Holy Mass according to the liturgical books in force in 1962, namely the 'Missale Sacri Ordinis Prædicatorum.'
I am grateful to His Eminence Vincent Cardinal Nichols for so readily granting me this faculty and the necessary dispensation so that the Dominican Rite Sung Mass at 6pm on Sundays can continue in St Dominic's, which is also the Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Rosary. The Archbishop has also acceded to my request for the Dominican Rite High Mass to be celebrated on 4 August, the (old rite) feast of St Dominic, and again on 17 September, the 10th anniversary of my priestly ordination.
Above all, I thank God for this mercy, and thank Our Lady of the Rosary for her intercession.
