“Adelante de la Fe” Stands By Its Story, Cardinal Elect Lived Like “Married”

The webpage Adelante la fe (May 29) rejects the statement of Cardinal elect, Bishop Toribio Ticona Porco who denied having a wife and children.

Adelante la fe insists that its report about Ticona's alleged affaire is “not gossip” but “completely true” and “publically known” in the diocese of Oruro, Bolivia.

According to the webpage the Bolivian Nunciature received detailed evidence of witnesses like neighbours “under oath” and names as well as addresses where the couple lived and where Ticona’s alledged children attended school.

The house, where Ticona’s alledged family lived, was owned by the then Vicar General of Oruro Diocese.

Adelante la fe knows the name of the alleged wife and a testimony of the pharmacist where she bought drugs calling herself Ticona’s wife.

Of course we MUST believe this journalistic rag of a newspaper simply based on their declaration that: The information is completely true. Everything printed in every newspaper or said on TV newscasts is always true…isn’t it?

If the informaion “is public domain at all levels in the diocese” as claimed in the article, then there should not be any problem in naming names, should there? What are the names of the “bishop’s children”? What are their ages? What is the wife’s name? Doesn’t she have something to say about “her husband”? Why doesn’t Adelante la Fe print it?

I have no knowledge of whether or not these scurrilous accusations made against this future cardinal are true or not. However, I do NOT trust the shoddy, incomplete and trashy attempt at journalism made by this newspaper and in this particular article. Anyone can make up phony documents. Give us the names of people involved (his children) and eye witnesses so that the story can be independently corroborated.

I hope Ticona does sue them and wins big.
