A Huge Success

Rome

The 3rd Summorum Pontificum Conference took place in Rome from may 13th to may 16th. Many high church officials participated. John Sonnen called it on his blog “a wonderful convegno with study and prayer! A huge success.” During the conference Bishop Athanasius Schneider made a call for a motu proprio re-establishing the minor orders and subdiaconate throughout the Latin rite.

Cannibalistic Society

Vatican

The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano has denounced proposals to legalize the sale of human organs. Giulia Galleoti writes: ““In human history, desperate persons have resorted to desperate measures in order to save themselves or someone they love.” And: “If medical science today allows every conceivable line to be crossed, the hidden rationale becomes this: crazy desperation induced by poverty. According to Galleoti, societies that ‘legitimize’ this desperation are societies that are incapable of defending their citizens.” She continues: “The moral problem is not primarily that of the seller. The most serious problem resides with the buyer. The heart of the problem lies here: are we willing to accept that a person buys his health, or saves his life, by buying replacement pieces from someone else’s body? The suspicion that societies open to this market are in fact cannibalistic, is real.”

Death Tourism Continues

Switzerland

On Sunday, residents of Swiss Canton Zurich rejected in a referendum two initiatives from authorities aimed at banning assisted suicide or limit the practice only to Swiss citizens, preventing so-called “suicide tourism”. The first question only received a 15% approval. The second question which invited citizens to say no to death tourism in the Canton, received only a 20% approval rating.

Poland Introduces De Facto Gay Marriage

Poland

Polish registry offices announced recently that the Ministry of Interior would issue new certificates that will allow homosexual couples to “marry” outside the country; however, gay “marriages” will still not be recognized within Poland. The application currently requires identification of both future spouses. Until now offices could refuse to issue the certificate to same-sex couples. With the new certificate, identification of the future spouse is not required, effectively permitting same-sex couples to apply and “marry” in other European countries, such as the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands, where gay “marriage” is legal.

"I would like to be a cool dude!"

Yes, that is sad but true. The "Polish" Prime Minister Donald Tusk (and his Citizens Platform) believes to be a good Catholic.

He is married for 30 years now. But he got married in the church only 2007, 6 Months before his election. A nice make up.

In one of the interviews he answered the journalist's question:

- Well, first of all I'd like to be seen as a cool dude!

It certainly appears that "organ selling" is on the rise, like in India which has so many poor, they will sell their organs just to make ende meet. And in the USA and elsewhere, young women are selling their eggs, some say to help pay for their school tuition. And in countries as Guatemala there has been an increase of homicides, later to find out that the victims organs were removed. Have Mercy.…More

However, homosexual "marriage" is permitted in various countries throughout the world. Same-sex marriage is currently carried out throughout ten countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, and Argentina.[1] Five U.S. states and one U.S. district perform same-sex marriages, those being Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia.[1] Mexico City also performs same-sex marriages,[2] which are recognized in all 31 Mexican states.

On his radio show in August 2010, Rush Limbaugh made the following comments on the then-recent decision by U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker regarding Proposition 8 in California: “Marriage? There's a definition of it, for it. It means something. Marriage is a union of a man and woman. It's always been that. If you want to get married and you're a man, marry a woman. Nobody's stopping you. This is about tearing apart an institution.”

As Catholic Christians we are in the world but ought not be of the world. What happens “out there” does not disturb me nearly as much as what happens within our Church and among our members.

A Washington Post-ABC News (03/23/2011) poll on gay marriage shows that — for the first time in the history of the poll — the majority of respondents (53 percent) approve of legalizing same-sex unions. What’s truly surprising, though, is that no fewer than 63 percent of white Catholics polled feel that gay marriage should be legal.
