Clementine Mass

Gregorian Mass

A Gregorian Mass series is 30 hl. Masses celebrated on thirty consecutive days for poor souls (deceased) who are to be freed from Purgatory. One can also have them read for oneself in the belief that they will benefit one after death. These extraordinarily effective masses go back to Pope Gregory the Great. When he was still abbot of St. Andrew's, he had thirty Masses celebrated in succession for a deceased monk Justus. After the expiration of these days, the deceased monk reported to the pope in a vision and communicated his release from the place of purification.

Masses of Passion

Passion Masses are 6 HL. Masses read under the aspect of the Passion of Christ for a particular person. This practice was approved and recommended by Pope Clement XII (1730-1740), which is why they are also called "Clementine Masses".

Report of six Holy Masses Taken from the book "Prayers with Promises", published by Anton Schmid, which can be used and celebrated for the living and the deceased for God's highest praise, for His honor and thanksgiving, and for the poor souls in purgatory with great merit and for their benefit and consolation, as can be seen from the following:
A highly learned, godly priest of the Society of Jesus and teacher of the Holy Scriptures, enlightened by revelation, publicly preached to the people that if these 6 Holy Masses were celebrated for a deceased person, his soul would be instantly delivered from Purgatory, even if it had been destined to suffer until the Last Day.
Two women, who were at the sermon and had heard this, promised each other that as soon as one died before the other, the survivor of the deceased would have those 6 masses celebrated, which was done. After one of these two women had died, the other, remembering her promise, had the 6 masses celebrated for her, whereupon the deceased appeared to her in the night in such unspeakable beauty and clarity that she was completely beside herself with joy and rapture and took neither food nor drink for 3 days. When she then regained consciousness, her only wish was to die as well. She ordered that the 6 holy masses be celebrated for herself and died happily and blessedly after this happened, the seventh day after.

A soul, which would have had to suffer in purgatory until the Last Day, appeared to a pious priest and told him to read these 6 masses for her. After the priest had said them with great devotion, the soul came to him and said: "I am the soul for whom you said these 6 masses. I thank God and you most sincerely that I have been delivered from such great torment, which otherwise I would have had to suffer until the Last Day.
If a person has six Holy Masses celebrated by an ordained priest for the living or the deceased according to the following order, the soul of the person for whom those Holy Masses are offered will infallibly be immediately delivered from the painful captivity of purgatory. It should be noted that these 6 Holy Masses must be celebrated by a priest in the following order and opinion:

The 1st Mass
is to be offered in honor of the innocent imprisonment of our dear Lord Jesus Christ, so that the soul intended to be delivered from its imprisonment and from the painful torment of Purgatory because of its sins committed in the world, may be redeemed.

The 2nd Mass
is to be offered in honor of the innocent judgment which our dear Lord Jesus Christ has passed upon Himself, so that the poor soul may be released from the severe chastisement to which it was condemned by the severe judgment of God because of the sins it had committed.

The 3rd Mass
is to be offered in honor of the innocent mockery of our dear Lord Jesus Christ, which he endured throughout his life, and especially in his last painful suffering on the trunk of the holy cross, so that he may absolve the poor soul from all embarrassing persecution and all punishments which it has justly deserved because of its sins.

The 4th Mass
should be celebrated in honor of the HL. Wounds and the misery and death he suffered on the trunk of St. Cross, so that he may heal the Poor Soul from all mortal wounds she received because of her great sins and absolve her from the deserved punishment.

The 5th Mass
is to be offered in honor of the funeral of our dear Lord Jesus Christ, to ask Him to bury eternally in His infinite mercy all the sins and misdeeds committed by the poor soul and to absolve it from the deserved punishment.

The 6th Mass
is to be celebrated in honor of Our Lord Jesus Christ's Resurrection and Ascension, so that He may bring the poor soul from the shadow of death to the eternal light and bestow upon it a speedy Resurrection and Ascension. Here it is to be noted that no one can pronounce what great merits he acquires with God who makes known the benefit of the pre-notified 6 Holy Masses, and in what manner they are to be celebrated.

It is said about it:
If a person goes on pilgrimage throughout the world from one holy place to another, he cannot acquire so many and great merits as if he exhorts other people to make use of these 6 Holy Masses, because thereby many poor souls will be pleased and redeemed. Also, it must not be forgotten to say what great benefit every person creates for himself if he has these 6 Holy Masses celebrated for himself already during his lifetime. For not only does he thereby obtain pardon for his sins, but through the power of those six Masses, even if he is out of favor with God, he comes to the knowledge and repentance of the same, and thereby escapes eternal damnation. Mass Novena. A novena of the Mass is a special petition to God: nine Masses are celebrated on nine consecutive days in a particular intention, in a particular emergency, or for people for whom one is in great concern.
