Vatican Discharges Faithful Bishop - Replaces Him With Servant of Regime

Mindong Bishop Vincent Guo Xijin, China, has handed over his see to the recently regularised Regime Bishop Vincenzo Zhan Silu.

The act took place in a hotel in Beijing, writes (December 14). It was Vatican Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli who pushed Guo in the name of Pope Francis to resign as ordinary bishop and to become the auxiliary bishop of Zhan.

Celli told Guo that Pope Francis asked him for a gesture of “obedience” and for a “sacrifice” [betrayal].

In Mindong diocese, at least 80,000 Catholics belong to the underground Church and less than 10,000 attend official state services.

Celli also requested the resignation of the elderly Shantou Bishop Zhuang Jianjian.
