Father Stefano Manelli Suspended at 85 - But Appeal Stopped It
On February 1, Father Stefano Manelli, the founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, was allegedly "suspended" as a priest by Salesian Father Sabino Ardito, the Vatican commissioner of Manelli’s Franciscans since 2015.
This claim was made by VeritaCommissariamentoFFI.wordpress.com (October 15) which mostly publishes insults against Manelli.
The truth: Ardito attempted to suspend Father Manelli who lodged an appeal at the Segnatura apostolica, and the Congregation for Religious under Cardinal Braz de Aviz backed down.
The reason for the ongoing Vatican fight against Manelli is the fact that he still refuses to assist the Vatican in getting hold of the substantial property of his community.
