One important consideration was not mentioned in this discussion and that is the revolutionary changes that were made to the liturgy under the auspices of Montini-Bugnini. That should have been the "red flag"to reject the Council outright.

You jest, but I love the analogy. Judas was chosen by Christ and so was a valid apostle until he betrayed Christ. VII was convened by the pope and included all the bishops and so was a valid council until it betrayed Christ by teaching heresy.
