"Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

It is in Islam that they hold that "the wool doesn't burn, Allah creates the fire which happens to be at the wool." The Catholic listens soberly to St. Paul, who says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema." Paul anticipates that there will be a falling away just as Our Lord predicted. Paul, like the Apostles …More
It is in Islam that they hold that "the wool doesn't burn, Allah creates the fire which happens to be at the wool." The Catholic listens soberly to St. Paul, who says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema." Paul anticipates that there will be a falling away just as Our Lord predicted. Paul, like the Apostles at the Last Supper ("Is it me, Lord") was not even sure of himself. Paul charges us, the believers, to be on watch for the preaching of a different gospel. Did Paul not trust the Holy Spirit? No, he believed that, as Christ said, "offenses must come" and the sheep need to be ready.

The Synod is not about women clergy or even blessings of sodomy. It is about "Synodality," meaning making the Catholic Church into the Synodal Church. A Church no longer clinging to the faith passed down from the Apostles but on which is "renewed" by whatever the local laity finds "inspiring". By making the church Synodal, all else will come in time.

"Synod doubters"?!! Really?!! So anything a bunch of clowns shove at us which we don't want forever makes us the "doubters". Have we learned nothing from the 'pandemic'?!! Even though I am aware that the author of the article is well-intentioned (despite the 'click-bait' title, which, as a lawyer, is so far down the "when did you stop beating your wife?", path he should be ashamed of himself), his …More
"Synod doubters"?!! Really?!! So anything a bunch of clowns shove at us which we don't want forever makes us the "doubters". Have we learned nothing from the 'pandemic'?!! Even though I am aware that the author of the article is well-intentioned (despite the 'click-bait' title, which, as a lawyer, is so far down the "when did you stop beating your wife?", path he should be ashamed of himself), his juxtapositioning of this phrase suggesting that anyone who finds the synod farcical somehow has 'trust issues' with the Holy Spirit is insulting and, frankly, lame. I have lived almost three generations having Vatican II, where I think any trace of the Holy Spirit was hijacked, shoved down my throat every time some cleric tried to introduce some ridiculous change in the Church. We are living in a time when the Holy Spirit has been very much shunted off on the sidelines to make room for some ideologically obsessed theologian's or ecclesiastic's version of how the Catholic Church should look in 'modern times' using a mock papier mache 'holy spirit' to hide behind. The synod is the Holy Spirit's version of the Son's crucifixion, I think. It looks like things are done, and the pouting malcontents in the Church have gotten their way, but, like the Son, the Holy Spirit will rise anew and flourish. Sadly, like at the crucifixion, not before the curtain of the temple is rent in two, and a lot of havoc breaks loose, when all these supposed 'victories' fall to the Truth once again as they inevitably must.

Exactly. Given how the bishops did, supposedly under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the 1960s, doesn’t give one much hope they will do any better in the 2020s, especially since trust in bishops has almost completely evaporated.
