On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: The proposed Equality Act has pro-life groups and many physicians very concerned it will force doctors to perform procedures, including abortion, that violate their conscience rights. Meanwhile, the Senate has now confirmed President Joe Biden's nominee, Miguel Cardona, for Education Secretary. Legal Counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom, Christiana Holcomb, talks about the new Education Secretary, and what she thinks we can expect from him in the Biden administration. The Senate is also on the clock to pass President Biden's COVID relief bill by the end of the week. But, Pro-life Catholic Indiana Senator, Mike Braun, says he's upset with the increased abortion funding in the latest version of the bill. In Iraq, the government is set to offer financial compensation to survivors of the 2014 genocide committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community. Director of the Jesuit refugee service in Iraq, Fr. Joseph Cassar, joins to tell us a little about the Yazidi community and why they were targeted by ISIS. Founder and Director of Plating Grace and host of EWTN's Savoring Our Faith, Fr. Leo Patalinghug, has a new initiative focused on helping the homeless, and not surprisingly, it involves cooking. He joins to discuss the idea for a food truck to help feed the homeless and those affected by the coronavirus. He also tells us more about his plans for Lent and shares some advice for the faithful.
