72-year-old Cardinal for Inter-Religious Dialogue Is Dying
Francis has announced today that the Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, 72, is moribund and in the last stages of life.
Francis mentioned this during a meeting with representatives of the Jain religion, which is based in India:
"I have some unpleasant news to share with you: The head of the dicastery, Cardinal Ayuso, is seriously ill, he is dying. Pray for him!"
Cardinal Guixot, a Spaniard, belongs to the Comboni Missionaries. He has worked in Khartoum and Cairo and much with Islam. In 2012, Benedict XVI appointed him secretary of the dicastery and Francis promoted him to prefect and cardinal in 2019.
Cardinal Guixot is member of a committee of human fraternity related to the heretical document of Abu Dhabi. In 2023, he compared Christ to the Buddha.

Spanish Cardinal Ayuso, prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, has died at age 72.
