Leo XIV Confirms Swiss Abbot: "The Church May Rejoice in Homosexuals"

Pope Leo XIV has confirmed today Abbot Urban Federer, 57, as Abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Einsiedeln, Switzerland. It is the second term of office (first elected 2013).

In August 2015, Abbot Federer expressed strong support for homosexual propaganda in a press release. Quotes:

- "The Church may rejoice in homosexuals as children loved by God."

- "I don’t want to be there against people, but for people. One should avoid treating homosexuals unjustly in any way. Therefore, the Church must not condemn them."

- Although bible passages "oppose sexual intercourse between people of the same sex (and not homosexuality, which was not even known in those ancient times. Therefore, such Bible passages can hardly be used to judge today's issues). Despite the language, which is hardly comprehensible today, I can still appreciate the concern expressed in these Bible passages to promote the family and the sexuality lived within it.”
