US Bishops Approve "Gay Washed" Bible Version

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) granted an imprimatur to the New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition Catholic Edition (NRSVue-CE), reports CatholicCulture.org on September 30. The translation was managed by Friendship Press under the National Council of Churches.

The director of the NRSVue committee is Catholic.

The translation has been criticized for its changes to passages condemning homosexual acts.

For example, in 1 Corinthians 6:9, earlier texts translated the Greek word ἀρσενοκοῖται as 'sodomites'. The new version invents the wording "men who engage in illicit sex".

Critics, including biblical scholar Robert A.J. Gagnon, argue that this vague wording obscures the historical and linguistic connection to homosexual practice and thus “gay washes” the text.

"The NRSVue now becomes the first major modern English committee translation of the Bible to eliminate any reference to homosexual practice", he wrote in 2022.

The translating committee later added a footnote acknowledging the possible meaning "men who have sex with men," but the main text itself avoids an explicit reference to homosexuality.

Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274)
Commenting upon Saint Paul’s Epistle to the Romans (1:26-27), Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic Doctor, explains why the sin of homosexuality is so grave:
"Given the sin of impiety through which they [the Romans] sinned against the divine nature [by idolatry], the punishment that led them to sin against their own nature followed.... I say, therefore, that since they changed into lies [by idolatry] the truth about God, He brought them to ignominious passions, that is, to sins against nature; not that God led them to evil, but only that he abandoned them to evil....
"If all the sins of the flesh are worthy of condemnation because by them man allows himself to be dominated by that which he has of the animal nature, much more deserving of condemnation are the sins against nature by which man degrades his own animal nature....

Instead of the Bishops approving a "Gay Washed" Bible, why not promote Chastity, Repentance and Courage International? The Bishops and Priests mandate is Salvation Of Souls not make Light of Sin!

Galatians 1:9
We have said this before, and now I repeat it: if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one you received, let him be accursed!

Even a moron must know that a fag-bible is an oxymoron.

I wonder if anyone has done any analysis to see how many USCCB members are sodomites? 🤔

Mons Lelio Baresi

fixed it for you: "how many USCCB members are sodomites? 🤔"men who engage in illicit sex".

According Gene Thomas Gromulka,
it's about 80 percent of them.
ROMAN CATHOLICISM IS DYING

Missed in this story over the [rightful] horror of an inaccurate Bible translation that soft-pedals homosexual sin, is the fact that it was the USCCB that granted the "imprimatur" for this text. For those paying attention, they attempted to do this 30 years ago during the reign of JP II but Rome blocked it by refusing to grant a recognito. I recall this precisely because I worked in a Catholic bookstore and the texts were already printed but couldn't be sold for liturgical use but only "private study." The publishers were livid, but the Vatican held fast that this version was NOT appropriate for Catholics. Fast forward to the post-Francis church, under "synodality" local bishops' conferences NOW have 'doctrinal authority' ! See: New International Group Plans NRSV-based …

And people thought they would stop with the changing of the Mass. Everything is up for grabs with modernists. The Mass, Scripture, Tradition, Doctrine none of it is off limits for these snakes.

Changing the text, the way Communists and tyrants do.

Stick to the Douay Rheims version. It is authentic.

YES - it is based on St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate.

You can change the map but the territory remains the same. Sodomy is sodomy.
