It is “surely” not God who punishes man, when evil comes upon him, but man himself who acts autonomously and punishes himself, Cardinal Walter Brandmüller writes on Kath.net (March 28) about the coronavirus.
He calls all evil a bitter fruit of sin “but not a punishment of an offended and angry God”.
According to Brandmüller, the created man unleashed all evil in creation by standing up against the Creator and salvation happens when man returns to Him.
