No Democracy: During the Synod of Bishops, Cardinal Burke was elected by his group to draft the group’s statement that will flow into the final report. There were many other Catholics elected into the same function like Cardinal Sarah, Brussels archbishop Léonard, Genova Cardinal Bagnasco or Cardinal Robles Ortega. But the Pope ignored these votes and appointed instead six ultraliberal prelates. The official news website of the Portuguese Bishops, Radio Renascença commented: “The fact is worrying those who want to maintain the current discipline of the Church regarding these issues, considering that all the persons named by the Pope are of a liberal tendency.”
