Pius IX: "The opinion according to which the pope, in virtue of his infallibility, is an unlimited and absolute Sovereign, supposes a totally erroneous conception of the dogma of papal infallibility. We also have an obligation to challenge erroneous statement(s) by any pope since we are the Church Militant and part of the Mystical Body of Christ.
