Anthropologically speaking, it is natural for the human being to express itself by means of its body: vocal utterance, gesture, visual art (plastic arts) and motion. Anthropologically speaking, it is natural for the human being to express itself by means of its body: vocal utterance, gesture, visual art (plastic arts) and motion. The 'anthropod' or human being, has done this since its inception, e.g. King David danced for Yahweh. It is only in using its whole body, can the anthropod satisfy its need to communicate.

Theologically speaking, in the worship of God, this has always been the case: dancing is a God-given gift to, as the psalmist says, glorify God because of 'the wonder' of the human being. Anthropological and theological arguments are not mutually exclusive here!

Returning to the example of King David (OT), we see that he danced naked. Now, it is God who has created the anthropod and so the human body is good, and sacred; God therefore canot take offence of his own beauty. The dance, then, is not an offence unto God.

However, St Paul teaches that if the method of honouring God causes offence unto one's brother, this is equally important as offending God: "If drinking wine causes offence to your brother, for his sake, do not drink". Therefore, if the weakness of the community is agrivated by dancing, it is a matter of 'Philos' or Christian Charity - not a matter of afronting God. Herein lies the offence, viz. in offending the community of believers.

Therefore, if these people are not offended or sexually aroused, or distracted from God by this dance, there is nothing wrong here. On the other hand, if there were people there who were disturbed by this dance, we have a problem! Not to mention, by posting a video of it on this website, the hundreds of viewers who just might be disturbed by it (in the aforementioned ways).

I think therefore that it was both irresponsible to post this video and quite lacking in Christian Charity! 🤨 Do remember that the relationship in prayer between the anthropod and its Creator is BOTH vertical (God focused) and horizontal (community considered). 😇
