The cessation of Mass is “so unique and serious” that it could be a “divine rebuke” for fifty years of Eucharistic desecration and trivialisation, Bishop Athanasius Schneider told RemnantNewspaper.com (March 27).
Schneider opposes the closures of churches as long as supermarkets remain open and public transportation works.
He urges priests to disobey their bishops if prohibited to anoint the sick, “Christ didn't give a bishop the power to forbid visiting the sick and dying.”
Schneider observes a “quasi-pathological fear” that has overcome “common reason" and a "supernatural vision.”
According to him, the coronavirus is a “divine intervention to chastise and purify the sinful world and also the Church.”
He doesn't have “absolute certainty” that the coronavirus is a divine retribution for the Vatican Pachamama events last October, but calls such a possibility “not far-fetched.”
