The neoconservative Cardinal Ouellet, the prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, took a stand in favour of Amoris Laetitia.
Writing in Osservatore Romano (November 22) he adulates Pope Francis for his “courage and bravery to tackle much discussed questions”.
Accoring to Ouellet Amoris Laetitia brings a “pastoral turnaround”. Ouellet calls it “fundamentally new” that people can live in irregular situations without being in a state of mortal sin. This statement is wrong. The idea that one can sin without being in a state of mortal sin [and going to hell] has been proposed by many heretics since the early days.
