The Reformed Liturgy, 50 Years Later | George Weigel

Fifty years ago, the Catholic Church marked the First Sunday of Advent with the universal implementation of the revised Roman Rite of the Mass. The …

Why do people think Weigel is an expert in everything. What are the statistics of the number of Catholics who attend Mass? Did the exit (way before the sexual scandals) have anything to do with the liturgy? I dare anyone to attend the most "commonplace" traditional Latin Mass and the most "reverent" novus ordo. There is simply no comparison. In the Latin Mass they don't have "cocktail lounge" …More
Why do people think Weigel is an expert in everything. What are the statistics of the number of Catholics who attend Mass? Did the exit (way before the sexual scandals) have anything to do with the liturgy? I dare anyone to attend the most "commonplace" traditional Latin Mass and the most "reverent" novus ordo. There is simply no comparison. In the Latin Mass they don't have "cocktail lounge" songs, and in the Latin Mass you are conscious by your very posture and position of adoring God. In the novus ordo you think "when are they going to serve the beer." May God restore our liturgy with the help of devoted priests.
The New Mass (aka protestant version) superior to the true mass? Weigel is more protestant than he knows. Some day God will toss the abominable New Mass back to where is came from: hell

I used to attend St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenville SC. Yes they have a beautiful protestantized Mass. The Mass they have tries to be everything the Old Latin Mass IS, and yet still misses the mark. If you want the Old Mass the Latin Mass then go to Prince of Peace. They do it right there.
What is the difference? Well the St. Mary's Mass is beautiful. Yes I would say a one in a million. (…More

What is the difference? Well the St. Mary's Mass is beautiful. Yes I would say a one in a million. (millions of other N.O. Masses are not beautiful and this is typical), but the N.O. Mass is just the start. The Old Mass... Latin Mass is always done correctly, or else it is NOT the OLD MASS. It is the latin new Mass.
The Mass in itself is just the tip. If you go to the parking lot of St. Mary's during election time you will see all sorts of PRO ABORTION supporters cars! I.E. Not Catholic! I know, my friends and I did just this very thing. Lots of cafeteria going on there.
At the Old Mass.... the Latin Mass Churches they have a community! All the HOLY DAYS and FEASTS are celebrated (as well as the days of repentance) as a community. EVERYONE... So it is just a fundamental difference. A more holy difference not offered in the typical N.O. church.
One is more protestant.
The other........ the Old Mass.... the LATIN MASS ............ is more Catholic!
More Catholic than the Pope!

Well here is proof that Weigle is not worth giving a listen. I can make my own mind up and be informed with out George telling me what I should think.

You do not need to reform something because it is done badly. You simply need to not do it badly.
