If you're new to Yandex, I should probably mention the "default" for all searches (even text based) is "moderate" (filtered). I've found this will noticeably alter the results you get. This can be a good thing or bad, depending on your (or your family's) sensitivity to online weirdness. Here's a quick how-to for changing your filter settings. It's cookie-based, so if you clean your cache/ cookies regularly, you have to re-set it when you come back. Totally worth the hassle. You don't have to "register" to use the full capabilities of Yandex and "the internet" suddenly looks very different than what 80% of the world sees using Google.

So... do a text-based search, any search, and let the results load. Then scroll to the bottom and do some clicking. :)
