Cremation Is a True Work of Destruction - by Father Franz Schmidberger, PiusX

In January, Father Franz Schmidberger responded to a certain Peter Kießl, who in the Straubinger Tagblatt (20 January) argued in favour of cremation "for the sake of the groundwater" calling for "…

Incineration is a horror, which Vatican II of course allowed: I say this because Schmidberger does not say it to avoid problems with the conciliar. Catholics, do not be cremated, but be buried in a blessed plot in a Catholic cemetery.

But he also ignores basic philosophical anthropology: humans are body and soul, not just a soul attached to a body by an accidental union. No, the human essence is to be composed of body and the immaterial form that, since is principle of life, is called 'anima' (principle of animation, of life) or soul, in English. So, the Resurrection us not in our hands, because the re-uniting of both principles doesn't lie in our power, but is reasonable, if you add Gods power: the intelligent soul subsits without the body, but it doesn't constitute a complete substance. If heaven's joy is complete, the entire being has to be there.... And that's how this poor man learned something today, hopefully!!!!!!!!

Now, maybe, he learned, additionally, that Chist Resurrected. I hope, at least

The opposite of Progressive is Regressive. Anti-Catholic? Hardly. I am very much aware that we live in the era of materialism and live a minimalist lifestyle. Bodies are necessary for life on Earth, in Heaven they are totally superfluous.

The opposite of "Progressive" ist intelligent.

"Bodies are necessary for life on Earth, in Heaven they are totally superfluous."
Completely wrong.
The human body and soul form an intrinsic unit. The real pain of death is their separation. In the afterlife each human body is reunited with its soul.
Your permanently disembodied soul thesis is both repulsive and factually incorrect.

@Wichita Knight: You statement does not correspond to Catholic Doctrine: We expect the Resurrection of the Body, not the Resurrection of a Body.
Holy Cannoli
So then, with bodies resurrected will I be able to enjoy my favorite Sicilian Dessert?

🙏
Don Reto Nay
@Holy Cannoli: Christ ate after his Resurrection, so, yes, there is a chance that you will be able to do so, provided that your favourite Sicilian Dessert will be available in hell. 😀

If you include assorted pasta dishes, a little red wine, cable TV and a large fan, hell wouldn’t sound so terrible. And, if you add daily news updates from the lovely ladies of Gloria.TV, hell would almost be tolerable. 👌
Hell wouldn’t be Hell without those GTV news updates. 🤗

Won't the ricotta filling melt down there, @Holy Cannoli? ;-) Don't worry. Given the number of Italians who've already settled down there, I'm sure they've found a solution. Personally, I'm curious about the music scene, what kind of DJs play the clubs, where to score...

...and I'm going to be looking up a few people when I'm down there. A few here on GTV, included.

Have you ever been through the catacombs of Rome? Seen pictures of an ossarium? Our body decays after death. If the Resurrection means putting flesh and sinew back on bones it can certainly reassemble ashes.

For who knows why I started thinking about my youth and the type of invective or profanity my contemporaries would hurl at one another when the occasion arose. Not only can it be used toward Italians but also in describing any stunad (preferably a liberal) who may or may not be Italian. The word is FREDO.
😜
The name "Fredo" also goes for his worthless brother the leftist Governor of NY.

The SSPX sometimes make sensible pronouncements but the above is not one of them

The dead body normally rots and decays .The Ash Wednesday blessing of Ashes states “Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return

Personally I hope to get interred in the earth in a coffin when my time comes but I do not have any reason to oppose cremation on Christian grounds unless it is done to express rejection of Catholic doctrines.
The bulk of cremations are not done for that purpose as far as I know.

Necessity of a body for the afterlife was only 'true' when people believed that Heaven resided just above the clouds.

Catholicism teaches that body and soul are reunited after death for all eternity.
I 100% believe this will be the position.

[Antipope francises foul formally heretical blather about soul annihilation is just more of his anti catholocism]

You would be hard pressed to do more violence to a body even if you fed it through a wood chipper. What you get back in the urn is not ashes, but ground up bone and teeth. Part of the body goes up the smokestack, part as fats collected in a container for disposal, and part as residue left on the tools used to collect the remains. After death the body decays.Whether ‘‘tis natural in the ground or at sea or whether ‘‘tis burnt is just a matter of time.
Some saints bodies remain incorrupt.
