Campus Ministry Communications [Organization] On 6 November 2019, Jesuit Heritage Month’s series of lectures and events kicked off with Remembering the Jesuit Martyrs 30 Years Later: A Conversation with Congressman Jim McGovern and Fr. Matt Carnes, S.J. At this signature event, Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-2) spoke with Fr. Matt Carnes, SJ (School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University) about the Congressman’s work in El Salvador, especially in light of his experience with the Jesuit martyrs from the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in El Salvador. Throughout this insightful conversation, the Congressman shares how he came by his “Jesuit education” and what it continues to mean for his service in the U.S. House of Representatives today. The welcome is offered by Fr. Jerry Hayes, SJ, Director of Ignatian Programming at Georgetown University.
