It was celebrated by His Eminence Emmanuel-Célestin Cardinal Suhard, then Archbishop of Paris. La première diffusion en direct de la messe à la télévision eut lieu à Noël 1948 en la cathédrale de Paris. Ce fut un événement mondial et exceptionnel que l’on doit au père Raymond Pichard, dominicain. Elle fut célébrée par le Cardinal Emmanuel Suhard, alors archevêque de Paris.
