Padre Guilherme Replaced at Catholic Event After Criticism
Despite originally being announced as one of the event’s featured attractions, Portuguese priest and DJ Guilherme Peixoto will no longer perform at the opening-night concert of Rouen’s 2026 Jeanne d’Arc celebrations on 14 May.
The Archdiocese of Rouen, France, said that Padre Guilherme had requested to postpone his appearance. This followed public criticism of his inclusion in the festival programme. Critics questioned the appropriateness of a priest performing electronic music during celebrations dedicated to Joan of Arc.
He will be replaced by French DJ Charles B, who will be accompanied by a local opening act. Unlike Padre Guilherme, the replacement performers are not clergy and their performance is not framed by religion.

Thank God. This shows, too, that, indeed we are not powerless, and must make our voices be heard loud and clear and often!
The Archdiocese of Rouen cancelled a scheduled performance by a well-known Portuguese DJ priest at its Joan of Arc celebrations amid mounting criticism.
