My kids could sing the Salve long before they went to school. Once the catechist asked the first class in elementary school (Sacred Heart) who knows some song or chants from the Holy Mass. My then 7 yrs old son stood up and sang the Salve. The catechist was totally surprised and mentioned she would not be able to do so. That happened in the mid nineties.
