"This light may be obtained in two ways. The first and most important is prayer, imploring the Holy Ghost to pour it into our hearts. This He will not fail to do, if we in truth seek God alone and the fulfillment of His holy will, and if in all things we submit our Judgment to that of our spiritual father.
The other is, to exercise ourselves continually in a true and deep consideration of all things, to discover whether they be good or evil, according to the teaching of the Holy Ghost, and not according to their outward appearance, as they impress the senses or are judged of by the world."

"After a few days, whilst he was walking and meditating in a retired spot, the deceased appeared before him enveloped in flames, and said to him, in a mournful voice, " Dear master, I beg of you have pity upon me ! " " What ! Brother Angelicus, do you need my assistance ? " u I am detained in the fires of Purgatory, awaiting the fruit of the Holy Sacrifice which you should have offered three times for me." "Beloved brother, I thought you were already in possession of eternal glory. After a life so fervent and exemplary as yours had been, I could not imagine that there remained any pain to be suffered." "Alas ! alas !" replied the departed, " no one can believe with what severity God judges and punishes His creatures. His infinite Sanctity discovers in our best actions defective spots, imperfections which displease Him. He requires us to give an account even to the last farthing. Usque ad novissimum quadran tern."

"Accursed be therefore everything of what they take from the earth for their own benefit, for they do not praise their God and Creator who has given them this. Accursed be their food and drink that enters their mouths and nourishes their bodies to become food for worms and destines their souls for hell. Accursed be their bodies that will rise again in hell to suffer and burn for all eternity. Accursed be the years in which they lived uselessly. Accursed be the moment that begins hell for them and that never will end.
Accursed be their eyes with which they saw the light of Heaven. Accursed be their ears with which they heard my words and did not care. Accursed be their taste with which they tasted my gifts. Accursed be their touch with which they touched me. Accursed be their smell with which they smelled the delightful things of the world and forgot me, the most delightful of all."

"My daughter, the tongue is not sufficient to narrate the pain of these poor souls. As there are three principal vices, namely : self - love, whence proceeds the second, that is love of reputation, whence proceeds the third, that is pride, with injustice and cruelty, and with other filthiness and iniquitous sins, that follow upon these."
‘OF WORKS DONE IN CHARITY’ - ‘Thomas A Kempis; 1872; Book I; Chapter 15; page 25
"Charity seeketh not himself in that he doth, but he desireth to do only that which shall be honour and praising to God. He envieth no man, for he loveth no private love, neither will he joy in himself, but he coveteth above all things to be blessed in God. He knoweth well that no goodness beginneth originally of man, and therefore he referreth all goodness to God, of whom all things proceed, and in whom all blessed Saints do rest in everlasting fruition."

Don't quite agree on this one -Albert Einstein ~~ Any fool can know..
I think we need Holy Trinity more than ever - paraphrasing the words of Eternal Father I quoted: 'Natural ability of the human brain is very limited.' or 'Without me you can do nothing.' I think those words apply especially when we try to do something extremely difficult/complicated.

Falk B What I meant is that the Knowledge is a Gift of the Holy Spirit - and it is not easy to obtain one. So is Understanding, also one of the seven Gifts. In that aspect both gifts are important and difficult to get. But I agree with you, too: "Understanding the planet is no longer enough or important, people are intend on trying to change it." Yes, I agree, people are getting primitive and arrogant. God the Eternal Father to Saint Catherine of Siena about those who imagine themselves to be wise: "Therefore you must know that in these latter days there has been such an upsurge of pride, especially in the case of men who imagine themselves to be learned or wise, that my justice cannot endure them any longer, without delivering a just chastisement upon them that will bring them to confusion. But since my mercy transcends all else I do, I shall first give them a salutary lesson, to see whether they will come to their senses and humble themselves; as I did with the Jews and the Gentiles, when I sent amongst them idiots whom I had filled with divine wisdom. To confound their arrogance, I will raise up women ignorant and frail by nature but endowed with strength and divine wisdom. Then, if the men will come to their senses and humble themselves, I will behave with the utmost mercy towards them, that is to say, towards those who, according to the grace given them, receive my doctrine, offered to them in fragile but specially chosen vessels, and follow it reverently. Those who will not accept this salutary lesson, I shall with perfect justice reduce to such confusion that the world will look upon them as objects of contempt and derision." I love that quote. God may do one day (hopefully soon) what He said to the Saint Catherine.
‘A Little Book of Eternal Wisdom’ by Blessed Henry Suso – Chapter II – pages 18-19
"Unspeakable sorrows of heart were then seen in My dear Mother, from the first sight she had of My distress till I was hung upon the cross. I was shamefully presented before Pilate, falsely denounced, and sentenced to die. They stood over against Me with terrible eyes like fierce giants, and I stood before them like a meek lamb. I, the Eternal Wisdom, was mocked as a fool in a white garment before Herod, My fair body was rent and torn without mercy by the rude stripes of whips, My lovely countenance was drenched in spittle and blood, and in this condition I was condemned, and miserable and shamefully led forth with My cross to death. They shouted after Me very furiously, so that: “Crucify, crucify the miscreant!” resounded to the skies."

‘Mirror of the Blessed Virgin Mary’ by St. Bonaventure – Chapter I – pages 6-7
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
HEAR, O most sweet Virgin Mary, hear things new and wonderful! Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear ! Hear that glorious messenger, Gabriel! Hear what is to be the wonderful mode of thy fecundity! Incline thine ear to a fruitful consent. Hear what is announced to thee as a certainty by God the Father ! See in what manner the Son of God is to become Incarnate of thee! Incline thine ear to the Holy Spirit, who is about to operate within thee ! Because thou hast ears to hear, hear !"

God the Eternal Father to Saint Catherine of Siena: 'Do you imagine that I am unable to find ways of achieving whatever I have determined and predetermined on? However, I realize that you do not speak thus from lack of faith but from humility. Therefore you must know that in these latter days there has been such an upsurge of pride, especially in the case of men who imagine themselves to be learned or wise, that my justice cannot endure them any longer, without delivering a just chastisement upon them that will bring them to confusion. Those who will not accept this salutary lesson, I shall with perfect justice reduce to such confusion that the world will look upon them as objects of contempt and derision. For it is indeed only just that those who try to exalt themselves should be humbled. Therefore, be bravely obedient when in the future I send you out amongst people. Wherever you may find yourself, I shall not forsake you, or fail to visit you, as is my custom, and direct you in all that you are to do.”
