Leo XIII was the scourge of Liberal Catholics, Modernists and Freemasonry, "Humanum genus." He mandated Thomistic philosophical and theological training in Catholic seminaries and universities for the first time to combat Kantian and modernist philosophies in seminary training. In "Rerum Novarum," he taught the principles of true Catholic social doctrine based on the relationship between capital and labour, and outlined the responsibilities of employers toward their workers... light years ahead of its time.
