The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, has cancelled a planned trip to Rome to take possession of his titular church, Sant'Onofrio, on 15 April. The reason is the current situation in the Middle East.
The ceremony has been postponed to a date to be determined.
The church of Sant'Onofrio, built in the early 15th century, is located near the Vatican, next to the Vatican children's hospital Bambino Gesú. It has been the seat of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem since 1945.

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel (Assyrian Church of the East affiliated to Canada) was reportedly stabbed with a pen while preaching at his church 'Christ The Good Shepard' in Wakeley, West Sydney.
The attack was livestreamed (below). The clergyman was taken to hospital. The attacker was tackled by worshippers before police moved in and arrested him. He injured several worshippers.

Lorenza Patricia Ramírez Barrera, 80, who dresses like a nun, has been arrested by the Chilean police after she was caught on security camera and identified as the person who left a large suitcase in the middle of Talavera Street in Santiago de Chile in the early hours of last Monday.
At 7.12am, a collector on an electric tricycle picked up the suitcase. But when he noticed the smell of decomposition coming from inside, he decided to leave it a few metres away.
Later, at around 10:06, another unidentified person arrived at the scene, manipulated the suitcase, then took out a big plastic bag that was inside, left it there and finally left.
It was not until 12:34 that the caretaker of the building in front of the suitcase realised that there was a body in the bag.
The suitcase contained the remains of Erica Alejandra Fernández Mora, who died of cancer in April 2023 at the age of 58.

Francis has allegedly thought of appointing Archbishop Georg Gänswein as nuncio to the Baltic countries, namely to the nunciature in Vilnius, Lithuania, which also covers neighbouring Estonia and Latvia, reports Corriere.it, citing Roman sources.
Until a month ago, Archbishop Petar Rajič, a Canadian of Bosnian-Croatian descent, was nuncio to the three countries. He was promoted on 11 March and is now nuncio to Italy.
If Francis were to make Gänswein a nuncio, he would be appointing as his official representative a person he considers his enemy and whom he slandered in his recent book.

Father Marko Rupnik is still listed as a Jesuit and as an adviser to the controversial Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in the 2024 Annuario Pontificio, the Vatican yearbook. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni confirmed on April 13 that the Secretariat of State has sent a note to the French Embassy to the Holy See regarding the recent conviction of Cardinal Marc Ouellet in France.
According to the note, the Holy See learned from the press of the decision of the court of Lorient in a civil case concerning the dismissal of Sister Marie Ferréol (Sabine de la Valette) from the Dominican Sisters of Pontcallec who are about to change from the Roman Rite to the Novus Ordo.
Ouellet was ordered to pay Sister Marie more than 180.000€, but allegedly never received any writ of summons from the court.
He had conducted an apostolic visitation of the Sisters of Pontcallec in the name of Francis. At the end of this visitation, Sister Marie was dismissed from the community.

The Vatican Criminal Court, in a short hearing (less than 30 minutes) on Friday, declared that it had no jurisdiction to rule on a case against the blogger Marco Perfetti (SilereNonPossum.com). He was accused of insulting Francis and reporting/disclosing secrets.
The judge found that there was "no need to proceed" against the defendant due to "lack of jurisdiction". Perfetti was not present in court.
The original complaint was filed by Italian businessman Angelo Chiorazzo, who is involved in the preparation of the first "World Children's Day" in Rome (25-26 May), wanted by Francis. Some of Perfetti's articles about this day were part of the complaint.
It is strange that there was a trial at all, since it was clear even to the prosecutor before it began that the Vatican court had no jurisdiction. It is even stranger that the accused was neither informed nor summoned to the trial.

The Interreligious Council of Ethiopia issued a statement on 12 February against "European pressure" on the government over homosexual propaganda, writes LeSalonBeige.fr (29 March).
The European regime (EU) is using a ten-year economic cooperation agreement signed in 2016 with the ACP (Africa-Caribbean-Pacific) countries to promote decadence in Africa.
Passages of this text "contradict the religious and cultural values of the Ethiopian people", the statement notes.
For example, the phrase "sexual and genetic health and rights", mentioned in Article 36.2 of the agreement, is directly linked to the murder of unborn children, mutilation of sexual organs, perversion of children and promotion of adultery.

The Swiss bishops will not attend the funeral of the late Bishop Vitus Huonder of Chur on 17 April at the French-speaking seminary of the Priestly Society of Pius X in Ecône, Switzerland.
After retiring as a Novus Ordo bishop, Huonder spent his last five years with the Priestly Fraternity of Pius X. He wanted to be buried in the crypt for priests where Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (d. 1991), the founder of the Society, was buried before being transferred to the Seminary Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on 24 September 2020.
Only Huonder's successor as Bishop of Chur, Monsignor Joseph Bonnemain, who owes his career to Huonder, is still considering taking part, but "not as Bishop of Chur". Since he is apparently able to separate his episcopal ordination from his person, he could attend as a doctor, his original profession.

Rihanna Fenty, 36, a moderately talented singer from Barbados in the Caribbean, has once again mocked the Catholic faith by dressing as something between a prostitute and a nun for the cover of the spring issue of a US magazine.
Wearing what looks like a nun's veil, but showing a lot of skin in the chest area, she has a lascivious facial expression. Commenters on social media were less than enthusiastic about her appearance, calling it "dehumanising", "degrading" and a "religious mockery".
One user writes that he is "so tired of all these unholy pictures". Another: "I love Rihanna but I will never understand her obsession with sexualising religious imagery." Again, another user: "May God forgive you."

The head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq, Catholic Patriarch Louis Raphaël Sako, announced on 10th April that he had returned to his headquarters in Baghdad.
He left Baghdad in August 2023 after President Abdul Latif Rashid, a Sunni Kurd, withdrew state recognition of Mgr. Sako as head of the church and spent eight months in exile in Erbil, Kurdistan.
Mgr. Sako returned at the personal invitation of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, a Shia Muslim from Baghdad.
The patriarch praised the invitation as "a first step in a journey of a thousand miles". Sako remains troubled by the Iraqi president's actions and continues to seek the recognition he has been deprived of.

Francis will make an Apostolic Journey to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and Singapore from 2-13 September, the Vatican Press Office announced (April 12).
He will visit Jakarta from 3-6 Sept, Port Moresby and Vanimo from 6-9 Sept, Dili from 9-11 Sept and Singapore from 11-13 Sept. This is the longest trip of his pontificate. A similar itinerary was previously planned in 2020 but was postponed indefinitely due to the covid hysteria.
Francis, 87, has regular respiratory infections and needs a wheelchair. Traveling long distances in this condition seems unthinkable.

Cardinal Robert Sarah, one of the leading cardinals in terms of intelligence and integrity, praised the bishops of Cameroon for their "courageous and prophetic" 21 December statement against Francis' homosexual pseudo-blessings.

Spanish fashion company Zara recently released a video showing models in various churches in the province of Malaga, including the cathedral.
The settings and costumes were inspired by Holy Week. The diocese of Malaga issued a statement on 7 April complaining that religious feelings were being hurt and threatening to sue the company.
On 9 April, after all the targets had been met and the video had received the desired attention, Zara "apologised". It claimed that "respect for all people is an essential element of the company's culture".
A spokesman for Zara added the lame excuse that the video was "not official content" of the parent company and that the responsibility lay solely with the employees of the Zara store in question.

Francis has decided to make Archbishop Georg Gänswein, 67, nuncio, reports Francis' friend Elisabetta Piqué on LaNacion.com.ar (11 April).
"Despite the tensions between the two," she wrote, "Francis has decided to wipe the slate clean and give a new start and mission to Benedict's former private secretary, German Archbishop Georg Gänswein, who, therefore, will soon be appointed nuncio in some part of the world."
She based her report on "indiscreet remarks [gossip] circulating in the Vatican", which she found "credible". Francis has decided to appoint Mgr. Gänswein to a nunciature in an as yet unnamed country.
It is possible that this is just a hoax report to divert attention from Francis' undignified outbursts in his latest book, "El Sucesor - Mis recuerdos de Benedicto XVI", in which he smears Monsignor Gänswein and other prelates of the Church.

Italian blogger Marco Felipe Perfetti (SilereNonPossum.it) has been charged by the Vatican with "slandering" Francis and allegedly revealing secrets.
Perfetti is a young Roman lawyer with excellent connections in the Vatican gossip pipeline. He never received a letter from the Vatican, let alone access to the prosecutor's files, even though the trial begins on 12 April, but learned of the accusation from the media.
"I'm completely surprised, also because our office is not in their state, so a rogatory letter should have been sent," he told FattoQuotidiano.it.
The Vatican promoter of justice, Alessandro Diddi, confirmed to Ansa.it the news of the trial and the offence of "defamation". Perfetti has brought the allegations against Father Marko Rupnik to light.
