Francis, A Rigid Modernist, Sees "Rigidity" Everywhere

Francis is making it clear he will rather see the Church split (again) before he ever changes his stance. Understandable since his vision of the Church is a fragmented, "decentralized" structure. Such reforms would create weakness and inevitable new "schisms" as it has among the Lutherans. Such reforms would create weakness and inevitable new "schisms" as it has among the Lutherans. There would not be "a" Catholic Church, but many "catholic churches" with radically opposing ideologies. Sadly, we are already at that point in practice, and our current Pope would see that formalized.

Deacon Presides Over [invalid] Mass – Francis, “You Go Ahead”

Tmanc ---exactly as planned, sadly. It is a deconsecration of the the most sacred office. Married priests, female priests, non-priests. We might even one day see the laity celebrating Mass since they are already allowed to do the readings and give out the Eucharist.

Very true. The hidden Church was composed of loyal genuine converts, not the barely converted who stay Catholic for whatever hand-outs the Church gives.

According to Church history such men were popes, many times. I am not Church history. If you wish to argue that history is false, then you must prove it. You will have to show every "bad pope" in history was, in truth, a good and holy man. I asked Gesu to do this and he could not.

Strange how I am wasting your time when I prove you wrong. Maybe I should whine how you waste my time with your ignorance and false claims.

Apologies in advance for the length of this reply. If anything, it shows you've said something worth discussing this thoroughly.

First, I should probably clarify something. No matter what bitter Latin Americans like Gesù è con noi and la verdad prevalece like to claim, I'm appalled by Pope Francis, his ideology, his "reforms". That said, he still remains Pope. He may be a bad Pope, there have been many before him, but he's still Pope. The "Latinos" behave much like their cultural "muchacho" Francis. They don't like Francis so therefore he isn't a valid pope. Using their reasoning, Judas wasn't a valid apostle.

Second, I believe Pope Francis will remove himself. By that I mean he will fall into a common mistake common to many leftist radicals when, paradoxically, they are achieving their goals. They rush, try to accomplish too much too soon, and there is a backlash. Quick example, during the 2004 US Presidential election, John Kerry was open in his support of homosexuality and that cost him substantial votes, particularly in the predomominantly Baptist, solidly Democrat South. Ultimately it cost him the entire election.

Or, even more likely, Francis will be removed because he's fiscally irresponsible. For many, the Church is a business. Right now they have a CEO who is very, very bad for business. There is a limit to how much mismanagement they will tolerate. We can hope this happens sooner rather than later.

Third, when it comes to "taking action" i.e. donating money, that's a different matter. I don't know anything about your organization or the breakdown of its salaries/ expenses. No offense, but there are many, many groups on every side of any spiritual and temporal political issue promising people exactly what they want to hear. They tend to be overseen by people who award themselves lavish, generous salaries to manage and oversee the group's activities. I'm not saying your group is run like that, but it is a valid concern. The Church has been plagued with scammers going back to the Middle Ages with false "pardoners", sellers of bogus relics, and the miraculously "cured".

Fourth, as I've told Gesu and La Verdad, the temporal Church is a political entity and Francis has packed it with his supporters. Canon lawyers (like any other sort of lawyers) can craft any number of interpretations of canon law, both pro and con. Those mysterious "persuasive persons" you allude to can (we hope) gain audience with the decision makers within The Church and present those interpretations. But the Church is not an American judicial system, it is still essentially a Medieval one. There is no jury. The validity of any legal interpretation is determined entirely by the "judge". In this case, the "judges" answer only to themselves and to their benefactor: Francis.

The laity isn't going to "force" Francis out of office. Your canon lawyers will be happy to take your money and we can hope, present better legal arguments than the drivel Gesu offers here as irrefutable proof. Your persuasive persons will be happy to take your money and promise they'll talk with/ meet with this functionary or that one. Francis himself has met in the past with various critics, over the state of the Chinese Church. He nods, mumbles, utters a few of his famously vague and ambiguous aphorisms.. End of meeting, end of discussion, end of reforms.

No suprises there. Marxists fight to the bitter end to retain power. They would rather destroy a structure before they ever willingly leave it. Ousting Francis will not be a matter of a few of his advisors sitting down with him over a nice lobster dinner one Friday evening and saying, "Jorge, amigo, it's time to consider retierment." If Francis retires, and he might, but it will be on his terms so he can ensure an even more radical successor.

Francis, like any Marxist worthy of the term, understands the requirements necessary to retain power. He has the backing of his cronies and that's all he needs. Simply put, he doesn't care what dissenters, particularly lay-dissenters think or how much they contest the validity of his regime. If he has to, he can simply expel any clerical critic who gains too much support. "Ego Sum Papa" and that is that.

It will take a gross misstep on Francis' part (doctrinally or financially) for his supporters to flee en mass. It could happen, but it will happen entirely through Francis' own blunders and, of course, the Grace of God.

You might want to give this article a quick glance for some perspective. Hopefully it will clarify the source of my admittedly gloomy outlook.. ;-).

Benedict resigned. He said so, he resigned in practice, and left the leadership of the Church to another. That's the current reality. I don't like it either. But I refuse to pretend otherwise. He did what he did. See my point about why things happens. God allowed Benedict XVI to resign so he could exercise free will.

There have been bad popes before, Francis is nothing new in that. What -is- new is Francis' motivation. Again, however, God allows bad things to happen, even in His Church.

Also, and this is a bit more of a mystical reason, ultimately the prophecies in Revelation will happen. There will be an evil Church, led by evil men. I'm beginning to honestly suspect we're seeing one of them knowingly laying the foundations.

Jungerheld... The West, America in particular. Francis, like all Marxists, sees the world as one homogenous entity guided not by the Christ of the Gospels but a hand-puppet Jesus.

This figure-head promotes the usual Marxist agenda based on their re-defining the language. We see this every day with terms like "Affirmative Action", "Tolerance", "Diversity". and tmore recently re-defined terms like:

"Priviliege" -the tangible benefits of hard work and sound policy.

"Exclusion" - having standards that promote "privilege". Specifically, requiring those wishing to join and live in a group to be assets rather than liabilities bptj economically, socially, and legally.

All of this is anathema to the Left. Francis is expanding the religious vocabulary of the Church he controls.

"Dialogue" -other religions and left-wing activists spout their blasphemous falsehoods and Catholics smile and nod silently.

"Mutual Cooperation" -hand-outs to said groups paid for by donations bilked out of well-meaning Western Catholics.

"Reciprocal understanding" -See "Dialogue", with the addition of abandoning all missionary/ evangelical activities (aside from those outlined under "Mutual Cooperation").

This is an old, old Marxist trick. Nice-sounding terms, noble-sounding theories, both of which conceal the most horrid injustice when put in actual practice.

Tesa is correct BrotherBeowulf . Francis is still Pope, even if he is a bad Pope. Consider the following...Many here, like you, claim Francis is the antipope and Benedict is the legitimate Pope.

Let us suppose you are correct. What happens when Benedict dies? If Francis is an antipope the way you claim and was invalidly chosen then he can not ever be pope regardless of whether Benedict is alive or not. Who, in your opinion, is pope then? Or is there none?

Even if, somehow, Francis expired tomorrow, the next pope will be chosen by the supposedly invalid cardinals appointed by a supposedly antipope Francis. By your reasoning then, this next hypothetical pope will also be an antipope since Benedict XVI would still, miraculously, be alive.

But at some point Benedict XVI simply will not be here anymore and the Church will be left with... who? Who is the valid Pope then? Or will the Church have no Pope at all?

Your position (shared by others here) is nothing less than perpetual sedevacantism kept at bay only by the failing health of a 92 year old man.

My position resolves that problem. Benedict resigned, he himself has made that clear, therefore Francis is the Pope. He may be a bad Pope. This is nothing new. There have been many other bad Popes before him. He may even be the worst Pope ever since he passionately believes in Marxism, something that hasn't happened before in the entire history of the papacy. But he's still Pope.

This avoids two very troubling viewpoints. Firstly, I don't like second-guessing God. All things happen for one of two reasons: 1.) God either causes them to happen or 2.) allows them to happen. Nothing could force God to appoint Francis as Pope. Francis is sitting on the Throne Of St. Peter for either reason #1 or reason #2.

Secondly, it avoids what seems to be a popular yet silly outlook on GTV, I call it The Finicky Little Catholics: "I don't like Francis, therefore he is invalid." Typically backed by some very contrived interpretations of Church tradition/ or canon law.

If Benedict had resigned and his successor was a hard-line extremely tradition-minded Pope, the Finicky Little Catholics would all be silent.

They would casually ignore any issues of supposedly questionable resignations, weird conspiracy theories how Benedict was "forced" to resign, or any of their other false concerns about canon law/ the Magisterium. The successor would be legitimate because they like him.

But now, instead, they act much like children at the dinner table. "Billy, I told you to eat your vegetables!" "Mommy, I don't like asparagus so it isn't a vegetable."

Sadly, the grown-up world and the Church simply doesn't work like that.

The media can "spin" an event any way they choose by what imagery they show and whom they interview. This simple fact is something widely ignored by pro-life movements. If anything, it's worked against them.

For an event like this, the media takes an infinitely more simple approach. They simply don't cover it, or give it only minimal coverage at best.
