The Ninth Article of the Apostles Creed
I Believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints

To begin this post on the Ninth Article of the Apostles Creed , we will be looking at what we call “The Four Marks of the Church“. I have to say that the Four Marks of the Church are absolutely vital to one’s understanding of what the Catholic Church actually is ; they are also the bedrock of the Church’s claim to being the One True Church founded by Christ! If you choose to learn about the Four Marks of the Church, you will be well on your way to being able to defend the Catholic Church and Her “constant and very firm teachings “.
What are the Four Marks of the Church? I am glad you asked ! The Church is : 1. One, 2. Holy, 3. Catholic, and 4. Apostolic. We will focus first on the oneness of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church’s unity is evident in its oneness. The Church is one …More

Holy Week
is a time of great penance and reflection. It is the most important time to reflect on Jesus’s approach to the Cross. As Jesus’s Passion approaches, it is a time to reflect on what He did for me, for my family, for the World. How Jesus willingly chose to go through torture, humiliation, and execution for all of us, knowing that many would turn their backs on Him. I think about the twelve Apostles and their last week with Jesus before His Crucifixion on Good Friday. I will contemplate the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Scourging at the Pillar, and the rest of the sorrowful mysteries. Like St Ignatius of Loyola suggests : I will try to imagine being at these actual places and take part in what happened.
Look at Jesus’s hands as He turns the simple bread into His Body. Watch His hands as He holds the chalice of wine and turns it into His Blood. Watch Jesus wash the feet of His Apostle’s …More

Thoughts on “Gender theory”
More on “Gender Theory”
What is “Gender Theory” ?
Just to re-fresh from last week, “gender theory“, is the THEORY that you choose your own sex. This THEORY is in direct opposition with God and the Catholic Church’s teachings. GENDER FACT, to put it simply is that boys are born with boy parts and girls are born with girl parts. “Gender theory“, would have us think differently ; it would say that each person would choose from one of 51 different options of gender. Actually, according to “gender theory” the person can be one or more genders at the same time, or even change their gender at will. Like I stated in last weeks post , “gender theory” is all about the sexualizing of our children and society. It is an attack on the family and on the dignity of the human person as a son or daughter of Almighty God. From Genesis Chapter 1 we read “[27] And God created man to his own image: to …More

Gender Theory
A good place to start is by trying my best to explain what the so-called ” gender theory ” actually is. I should also warn parents right here and now, that it is vitally important that you school yourselves in this particular topic, and come to see it for the grave evil that it is. The point, idea, and plan of the social engineering of “gender theory” is to groom our children, Gods children ,to be used as sexual objects. “Gender Theory” is not about how a person feels at all, it is all about removing the dignity of the human person and denying the family unit. It is all about making the human person an object to be used. We need to be razor sharp and crystal clear here folks, this topic is a biggie! For those who live in Ontario Canada, grade 3 students will be learning this garbage starting in September 2015, only 6 months away! Yes, that is right GRADE 3 students in Ontario Canada …More

Under Attack
Once again, I have to state that this blog site is dedicated to catechesis in the Catholic Faith. However, at times I reserve the right to comment on certain topics that may negatively affect the Catholic Church, and her Sacred Doctrine as a whole. Let us be very blunt, marriage, family and the Sacraments are under vicious attack from some of those within the Church herself. I cannot pretend that this is not happening when we have an entire Bishops Conference, from Germany “pastorally” separating itself from Rome. This is one of the rotten fruits of “collegiality”.
This unofficial schism of the German Bishops is just the beginning, and it has everything to do with mammon, not souls. The German Bishops conference is willing to compromise with the world at the expense of persons salvation. The German Bishops are united in wanting to change Church teaching that cannot be changed. But …More

It seems that faithful Catholic Bloggers are under attack from high profile Catholic priests or at least one priest, Father Rosica. Is this charitable or just in anyway? This is far from mercy. It seems that we, as Catholic Bloggers are not to question any gross irregularities that may appear in certain priests regular twitter posts or articles that he may be a part of, or we face the threat of law suits and losing house and home.

” I Believe in the Holy Spirit “
The Eighth Article
In order to properly catechize, I have to give definitions of certain words. The reason I have to do this, is because many of us just don’t know what certain words actually mean. Sometimes we may have an idea of what a certain word, or idea is trying to express. However, I have found that it is better to just spell out, definitively what certain words are trying to communicate. I was, and still can be one of those people, who think they know what certain words and phrases mean. I was amazed, when I started to actually look up certain words in my Modern Catholic Dictionary by our founder Servant of God Father John Hardon. I had no idea how wrong I was when it came to certain definitions of words.
The particular word I am thinking of in the Eighth Article of the Apostle’s Creed is ” believe “. What does the word “ believe ” really mean? Well, let’s …More

Marriage in the teaching of the Catholic Church
19/01/2015

Marriage was instituted by God, not invented by man (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church, n.1603). The Creator has built it into human nature, even into the human body, in its two complementary forms, male and female. ‘Male and female He created them’ (Gen.1: 27): man for woman, and woman for man, united in marriage as ‘one flesh’ for the procreation of new life: ‘Be fruitful and multiply’ (Gen. 1: 28).
God has given marriage its essential characteristics and proper laws: unity (one man married to one woman); indissolubility (nothing but death can end a marriage); and openness to procreation (in every act of physical love). No president or religious leader, no senate or synod, nor any government, has the …More

The Seventh Article of the Apostle’s Creed
“From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead”
What is Purgatory ?
Purgatory is a state or condition in which the souls of the just, who die with the stains of sin, are cleansed before they are admitted to heaven. This cleansing is necessary as we read in Revelation chapter 21:27 ” There shall not enter into it any thing defiled, …” this taken from The Question and answer catholic Catechism by Servant of God Father John Hardon. Sounds simple, right? For some, not so. Here I will try and explain it as best I can using Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.
Catholics did not just make up this well known Dogma of the Faith. The teaching on purgatory is rooted in the Orthodox Jewish Faith before the time of Jesus Christ. In the Second Book of Maccabees we read in Chapter 12:[43] And making a gathering, he sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice …More

Papal Coat of Arms of Pope Benedict XII

Hi everyone, it is nice to be back posting once again. I hope all my readers and their families had a wonderful and holy Christmas and new year. May God in His mercy and goodness bless all of us this year of 2015, and may He come quickly!
The headlines of the secular news are filled with despair and hopelessness. Our True Faith and Hope rests in One, Jesus Christ our True King and Lord. We must never lose hope and keep our eyes on Him. So many distractions, including Catholic news in many cases can keep us from what’s truly important; readying ourselves for His glorious return! May we keep our souls focussed on Him this year, and pray to praise , reverence and serve our Lord with a great apostolic zeal this year! May we all be “praises of glory,” as Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity states.

THE O ANTIPHONS
As her final phase of preparation for Christmas, the Church recites or chants the O Antiphons during Vespers of the Liturgy of the Hours. The O Antiphons express the Church’s longing for and expectation of the Messiah, and her startled wonderment at the fullness of grace which the Christ-Child is about to bestow on the world.
Benedictine monks arranged these antiphons with a definite purpose. If one starts with the last title and takes the first letter of each one — Emmanuel, Rex, Oriens, Clavis, Radix, Adonai, Sapientia — the Latin words ero cras are formed, meaning, “Tomorrow, I will come.” In these words, the Lord Jesus, for whose coming we prepare in Advent and to whom we address these seven Messianic titles, now speaks to us. The O Antiphons not only bring intensity to our Advent preparations, but they bring our preparations to a joyful conclusion.

I apologize for not posting on Catechesis as much lately. The mission of this site has not changed,if anything, it has been strengthened and galvanized. Now, more than ever, it has become so glaringly obvious, that Catechesis in its most basic form, is so desperately needed. Not only is Catechesis needed for the lay faithful, or the potential convert or revert, but also for many, and I say many Catholic priests and their superiors. I will do my best to provide sound Catechesis on a regular basis. Please, print, copy, email, send whatever information from this site that you find useful for yourself, students, children, parents, priests, Bishops…… Use whatever you like from this site to help evangelize and catechize the population. Just give Canadian Catechist a little plug, that’s all I ask :-). And yes, I do use emoticons lol!!! …More

St Athanasius, pray for us !
St Athanasius
was the greatest champion of Catholic belief on the subject of the Incarnation, particularly on Christ’s true humanity and divinity, in the Patristic Church, and in his lifetime earned the characteristic title of “Father of Orthodoxy”, by which he has been distinguished every since.
St Athanasius was exiledthree times by general councils or synods dominated by Arian bishops, twice by order of the Emperor. He was slandered, condemned by a false council, tried and acquitted of various absurd charges. The Emperor Constantine and his successors considered Athanasius a trouble-maker.” But Blessed Cardinal Newman called him “a principal instrument after the Apostles by which the sacred truths of Christianity have been secured and conveyed to the world”.

I think it an appropriate time, to take a pause on catechesis of the Apostle’s Creed and look at what the Church teaches about the Sacrament of Marriage. The Third Extraordinary General assembly of the Synod of Bishops is scheduled to take place in Rome from October 5-19. The theme is The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in Context of Evangelization. I received a letter this week from our International Director of the Marian Catechist Apostolate, His Emminence Cardinal Raymond Burke, who will be presenting at the Synod. He asks all members of the Apostolate, and all the faithful for our daily prayers, especially during the time of the Synod.
