A faith that frees
October 6, 2019 XXVII Sunday of Ordinary Time

Dear brothers and sisters, in our post-modern and post-Christian western world, in which, since the beginning of the 1960s, as Benedict XVI explained to us masterfully, a progressive moral collapse was followed by a progressive eclipse of God which is why today we no longer speak of God not even, unfortunately, in theology, the request made to Jesus by the Apostles, which we listen in the Gospel of Sunday, October 6, "Lord increase our faith!", may seem, to say the least, anachronistic, out of time. But, dear brothers and sisters, we believe it is important to meditate, even for a few minutes, on the reasons that led the Apostles to make that request ...

We can affirm with absolute certainty that it was the lifestyle of the Man Jesus, at that time, in fact, the Apostles had not yet understood with whom they really were dealing with… characterized by a boundless faith in the God of their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to motivate the Apostles.

Actually seeing Jesus free from worries about what to eat and how to dress because the Father feeds the birds of the sky and dresses the lilies of the fields ... Seeing Jesus free from the anxiety and anguish of the present time because the Father is preparing a beautiful banquet to make feast with his children in his House of light ... Seeing Jesus free from evil and able to make the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear and the dumb speak because the Father gives to those who ask, allows to find out to those who seek, and opens the door to those who knock ... Seeing Jesus free to love, everyone, even and especially the enemies, "to the the end" because the Father is able to turn the "defeat" of the Cross into the "victory" of the Resurrection, truly convinced them that, as Mother Liliana of Paradise reminds us, faith is a leap into the light that illuminates the night, it is a leap into love that burns selfishness, it is a leap into joy that fills every void.
