Triangulation Strangulation.
Everyone knows well that man is prone to causing problems with his tongue. St. James exhorts us to bridle our tongue lest our religiosity be in vain. In communities (families, parishes, neighborhoods, etc.), the irresponsible use of the tongue can be very harmful. People begin to complain to each other and backbite against the other, forming a kind of “triangle” that excludes the other. By their words they strangle or cut off the other, excluding him from their hearts, minds and lives. We must work hard to avoid this. The following steps will help: [1] Speak to the person face-to-face. [2] Follow God’s hierarchy by involving the proper authority. [3] Keep your own sinfulness in mind. [4] Speak of events and things rather than persons and personalities. [5] See the person under question though God.
