Israel Attacks Christians of Holy Land.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in East Jerusalem, which is in the place where Christ was crucified and buried, was shut down indefinitely on Sunday in protest against a new Israeli tax policy and draft-law on land expropriation. The Catholic Church, the Greek Orthodox, and the Armenians announced the closure in a joint statement, accusing Israel of a “systematic and unprecedented attack against Christians in the Holy Land.” They called the proposed Israeli legislation “abhorrent… discriminatory and racist.” And, “This reminds us all of laws of a similar nature, which were enacted against the Jews during dark periods in Europe.”

At times, a clean gun in good working order can be the solution” writes Father Jerry Pokorsky on the catholicthink.org. He gives as an example a just war, just police action, or acts of personal self-defense. To craft gun control legislation is according to Pokorsky – quote – “the business of the laity” not of the clergy. Pokorsky is pastor in Great Falls, Virginia.

The commission of education of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, the country’s lower house, has asked the government on Wednesday to derogate the concordat with the Holy See and to remove religious education from the schools’ curriculum. The initiative was backed by leftwing parties like Podemos who are praising Pope Francis and who have Francis’ heart.

The death of Billy Graham recalls an extraordinary moment in American life when Graham and other leading Protestant leaders tried to stop John F. Kennedy from becoming president because he was a Catholic. Graham convened a secret meeting in Montreux Switzerland. About 25 Protestant leaders took part, with Graham leading the discussion. Graham later seemed to genuinely regret his bias and in later life made common cause with several popes on matters of morality.
