Catholic Priests Believes God Softened His Kidnappers Hearts - Perspectives Daily.

saltandlighttv on Oct 19, 2017 We start today, with the story of another Catholic priest who was kidnapped, but this time in the African country of Nigeria. Italian priest Fr. Maurizio Pallu was travelling with a group of pilgrims, on their way to Mass in Benin City, on Oct. 12 when they were ambushed and kidnapped by several gunmen and held captive for nearly a week.

Thankfully they were freed on Tuesday this week. Although kidnappings for ransom are common in the area, Father Pallu told Vatican Insider yesterday, that he was unaware of any payments made to the attackers and believes that "God softened the hearts of his captors." We were very scared, especially the two young people who were with me: a young man employed by the parish and a female student, both from Nigeria, both very young," Father Pallu said.

As news of the kidnapping spread, Greg Burke, the Vatican spokesman, said in an October 13 tweet that Pope Francis "was informed of the priest's kidnapping" and prayed for his release."

When asked whether he would return to Italy following his ordeal, Father Pallu said that while he may return for a brief visit, he wants "to continue the mission here where God called me."

Here in Canada, Development and Peace will herald the positive peace built by women. This campaign invites Canadians to learn more about the vital role women play in conflict prevention and peace building. Have a look.

If you should happen to be in the Chicago area tomorrow evening, you might be interested in this event called ReEcnounter being hosted by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Cardinal Cupish has the details for you here:

Chicago isn’t the only city with some great Catholic events. Toronto’s Cardinal Collins, along with the Archdiocese of Toronto, invites you to attend the 3rd Annual Father Boulad Dinner for Christians in the Middle East. Have a look

Again, the event takes place this October 28th, at the Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish in Etobicoke. Funds raised at this event will help to fund projects supported by CNEWA in Syria and Iraq and by Fr. Henri Boulad in Egypt. For tickets and more information, you can visit their website listed below.

And finally tonight, we have a very special program for you that airs this Sunday evening. Our very own producers, Emilie Callan and Julian Paparella bring you the details.

Again this "National Forum on Youth" airs on October 22nd at 7:30 pm and 11:30 pm Eastern. For more details, be sure to check our website.
That's all for this week. Join us again on Monday when I bring you more news and stories from the Perspective of a Catholic lens.

He was liberated, but certainly not through the prayer of this hypocrite, but by a fluke.
So many innocent people and children are brutally killed. All these murderers and their supporters have earned the eternal fire as punishment.
