Grievance Culture vs Christ the Victim.
We hear a lot about grievances today…in fact…there is a grievance culture present among us. We have moaners, whiners, complainers, malcontents, agitators all competing to see who is or what group is the greatest victim of all. Groups of people with grievances…grievance communities, if you will…brand themselves as having special needs, requiring exceptional treatment. We have become a nation of grievance-nurturers. When one considers the injustices done to our dearest Lord, especially in His being persecuted, arrested, mocked, scourged, and crucified, one is amazed at His willingness to hand Himself over to His enemies while in the Garden of Gethsemani. Although a true Victim of injustice, our dear Savior does not embrace the grievance and victimhood culture. He does not weaponize His grievance to destroy those who have done Him wrong, rather He loves and prays for His persecutors…Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.
