Dr. Stuart Reiss: Why don't you try it with six children. Makes you rich in no time! (How blind can people be - seeking justification for their blindness in the faults of others...) If Medjugorje would be a fraud, that would be a greater miracle then the daily apparitions of Our Lady itself. As the late (and great!) fr. Slavko used to say: if you think that you can manipulate six children, so entirely different from each other, to testify in union so many years of the apparitions and the messages of Our Lady, well then, go ahead. Try it!

If Medjugorje is divisive, it is not because of the apparitions but because of the disbelief of so many people, in spite of all the evident signs and wonders (especially the conversions). The Queen of Peace just calls for conversion, prayer, a sacramental life, fasting and living the Word of God. In what way is that divisive to catholic faithful? Medjugorje is the hope for the Church and the world (as Fatima is, of which Medjugorje is the continuation, as Our Lady herself and St. John Paul II said).

I visited Medjugorje twice, hearing many good confessions and being present for several apparitions. As a Navy chaplain assigned to USS Ranger (CV 61) I gave a prominent Medugorje priest a tour of the carrier just before our deployment to the Persian Gulf for the 1st Gulf War. He blessed the vessel to be an instruement of Peace during the war. Much later I learned he had fathered a child with a nun …More
I visited Medjugorje twice, hearing many good confessions and being present for several apparitions. As a Navy chaplain assigned to USS Ranger (CV 61) I gave a prominent Medugorje priest a tour of the carrier just before our deployment to the Persian Gulf for the 1st Gulf War. He blessed the vessel to be an instruement of Peace during the war. Much later I learned he had fathered a child with a nun, but eventually left her to be cared for by a laymen in a northern European country. After more research I concluded that Medjugorje was a distraction from the Message of Fatima, which, if obeyed, would have totally changed the history of the world since 1960. The posting by Kaiser shows the visionaries in a"partial" trance. On the contrary, the visionaries of Garabandal were drawn into a complete trance many times, wherein medical doctors even poked them with pins, without response.

No one can define how the condition of the visionaries really is.
I think when they perceive an apparition, the state of their ecstasy is like a trance, not out of control.
