It pays tribute to the first nativity scene installed by St Francis of Assisi in Greccio in 1223.
However, it contains a historical blunder. In the background, a Franciscan celebrates Holy Mass with the back to God. Removing God from the centre of the liturgy by introducing a people's altar was a novelty introduced only in the late sixties.
Previous Vatican nativity scenes have featured controversial figures, including half-naked men.

He might "not be well", however, remember that we are in Advent, just like Lent, the 2 most important Liturgical seasons of the Catholic Faith. He tends to be very 'allergic' to venerating Jesus and especially Our Lady. He is sickened when he has to act the part of a TRUE POPE, examples: genuflecting in front of the Blessed Sacrament, raising his eyes to the Statue of Mary, quoting the Gospel...etc. Dec. 8th is the Immaculate Conception, tradition has it in Rome that the Pope (the one elected rightly - not by the Saint Gallen Mafia in 2013) takes a bouquet of flowers to the Statue of the Immaculate at the Spanish steps, it's always been a great event , until he came along. Last few times, he went at the Statue at a crazy early time in the morning - most likely to avoid critics-but he was criticized anyway. His answer was a hodgepodge of his usual negativist mantras. In an abstract way, he condemned a "taking refuge in safety zones, such as the habitual repetition of things one always does, or in the seductive calls of an intimist spirituality, or even in a misunderstood sense of the centrality of the liturgy.”
He psychologised that these are "temptations disguised as fidelity to tradition, but often, rather than responses to the Spirit, they are responses to personal dissatisfaction."
Instead of ranting and generalising, Francis should have shown where and how a method of evangelisation which that avoids these alleged errors bears concrete fruit. Francis empty liturgies and empty general audiences cannot serve as an example.

2023 has been yet another challenge for most of us. After the Covid hysteria, the warmongering in Ukraine and Holy Land, the energy crisis, mass immigration chaos, climate superstition, gender madness, and shaky financial markets.
All these man-made problems affect each of us to varying degrees.
How does Christmas fit into this? Well, the darker the night, the brighter the star of Bethlehem shines. Its light is the solution for these and all the other problems. The problems - real and false - come and go. Christ's incarnation is here to stay. Forever and ever. What remains matters, and what matters remains.
So we have good reason to believe the Christmas angel: "Do not be afraid, for to you is born today a Saviour" (Luke 2).
