At least 7 people have died in the Oslo car bomb blast and a further 84 people have been killed around the island of Utøya (Tyrifjorden). Up to 600 people were on the island taking part in a summer camp, most of whom were teenagers aged between 14 and 18 (Fatality Report, 11:18 hrs, BST).

The nuncio has not conspired or interfered with laws, concealed a crime, and there is not 'sufficient evidence' in this report to show this. I wonder if he as he actually read the report, because as far as I can see, reading the report (its available on the internet) the report demomstartes incompetance more than 'systematic law breaking' and it is not apparent that the Vatican is engaed in a cover up. The hysterics regarding the so called 'study document', the Framework document, did contain recomendations that did not adhere to canon which would lead to the undermining of a case if it went to prosecution. The Nuncios famous letter, being misquoted in the press of late, merely highlights this. We need to be clear that that letter doesn not demonstrate that the Vatican was involved in a conspiracy to cover up abuse cases but shows concern for these factors which would discredit the processes established to deal with abuse cases. Irish parliamentarian Charles Flanagan of Fine Gael (centre-right party) speaks about his call for the expelling of the Papal Nuncio from Ireland with radio presenter Will Faulkner on local radio station Midlands 103. During the discussion, the Catholic doctrine on lying “mental reservation” is mentioned. Cloyne, Murphy and Ryan are Irish government commissioned reports on Catholic child abuse, and the “Garda Síochána” is the Irish police service.

Thanks for illuminating our minds. Without this explanation, one would just regard this habit as rediculous....too complicated, too many accoutrements. But, all has been explained. What symbolism! Thanks again.
