"This Is the End of the Christians in Aleppo"

Syrian Catholic Archbishop Jacques Mourad of the Diocese of Homs in Syria has denounced the immense suffering of refugees fleeing the ongoing violence in Aleppo and the imminent destruction of Christianity in the region.

Despite the rhetoric of the jihadist terrorists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Syrian Christians know that their fate under these Islamists is not an enviable one.

Monsignor Mourad, a member of the Deir Mar Musa monastic community, was born in Aleppo.

He has personally experienced the horrors of the conflict, having been kidnapped by jihadist forces in 2015 and held captive for months.

"The Christians of Aleppo will be convinced that they cannot stay. That it's all over for them. One is trying to put an end to the rich, magnificent and unique history of the Christians of Aleppo," he says.

Not true. The Russians have not destroyed the Christians in Nagorno Karabah, the Azeris did. Russia was too busy elsewhere, and failed in its traditional role in protecting the Christians of Armenia.
Let me remind you that Russia gave the Christians of Syria a 10 year reprieve, by intervening in the Syria war. Had Russia not got bogged down in Ukraine, and the US not completely destroyed Syria's economy with the Caesar Act and theft of Syria's oil, Russia might yet have prevented the head-choppers from winning.
