Abbot of Barroux: Church Authorities Are Sabotaging Catholicism
"What pleased me most was to see young people full of faith and courage, in spite of the many restrictions imposed by the Church authorities".
He knows that the "Church authorities" are not very favourable to this type of event: "For several years now, it has not been possible to celebrate the closing Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan. That's why the Holy Sacrifice was celebrated in the open air, nine kilometers away, in the middle of the afternoon".
The abbot recalled that the pilgrimage began with only four people. Each year, including 2024, the number of pilgrims has increased.
He saw young people full of enthusiasm and faith - singing, laughing, praying and confessing - and families with many children.
All of them "not very interested in the Synod" but are "fascinated by beauty and a sense of the sacred".
"Young people are looking for points of reference for their personal spiritual life, for family life, which is so fragile, and for the future of society."
