Archbishop Speaks on Francis' 'Most Damaging Parts'

"The most damaging parts of Francis' style were his lack of interest in clarifying theological issues and his obvious distaste for some parts of the Church," Monsignor Charles Chaput, OFM Cap. the archbishop emeritus of Philadelphia told PillarCatholic.com (April 29).

For example, Francis refused to answer serious questions raised by the dubia of various cardinals after Amoris Laetitia.

"Pope Francis has often been a cause of disunity because of his style and temperament."

"Too often, Francis spoke too loosely about serious issues, confusing his listeners and diminishing the gravity of his office," Chaput notes.

The archbishop is "sad" that Francis failed to see and appreciate that "there is an enormous amount of good in our country [the United States]."

I cannot speak for another person, but his previous archdiocese is in decline now due to his successor undoing some of his good works, and there are many ways to hurt an archbishop besides never naming him a cardinal in a previously "cardinatial see." We do not know what threats he may have received from "Rome." Frank-ly, I am glad that he has spoken up now.

An accurate assessment of some of Pope Francis’ shortcomings.
But my question to you is why did you not have the spiritual courage to voice those opinions when he was alive and creating the mischief that he did?

Due to Pope Bergoglio's penchant for exacting vicious revenge against those Bergoglio dislikes. Why make yourself a target for little gain?

I'm sure that was his thinking. But still, a lack of courage on the part of the bishops is also the reason why the Church has been brought to her knees.
All but one of the Apostles were martyred for speaking out for the faith, but today's bishops are unwilling to even put their perks in jeopardy.
