Rare Cranach exhibition to open in Moscow.
DW on March 3, 2016. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine arts is preparing an extensive exhibition which will, for the first time in Russia, gather artworks by Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472–1553) and Lucas Cranach the Younger (1515–1586). The display will include more than 50 paintings, as well as 4 drawings and more than 50 wood engravings from the museums of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Berlin, Kassel, Gotha, Madrid, Budapest, and several Russian private collections. The exhibition will evidence the originality of the artistic genius, stylistic and thematic variety of the oeuvre of the two generations of the Cranach family.
